Posted: 15 hours 55 minutes ago at 8:26am
Just built a pc and the combo i have is a ASRock x870e Taichi, ASRock 9070 xt and r7 9800x3d I saw there was issues floating around that were impacting a small number of CPUs with these motherboards. Most of them appear to be using PBO and/or improper install. Was just curious if "auto" in bios is also considered disabled for PBO... if not can I just disable it entirely through a different method to avoid this being a potential issue?

BIOS is on 3.20 and don't have ability to update it for a few days but need to be using for some work/school tasks.

Thank you

Honestly, why risk damaging your CPU? Even if the chance is one in a billion.
If you absolutely need to use the system without updating first then disable PBO
entirely.

See page 34 of your user manual and adjust your settings accordingly. Auto is enabled.

Complicated to explain but yes I don?™t have a choice given the timing of build with personal things going on.

I?™ve read over the manual that?™s the issue. There is no disable listed in the bios for this mobo.

There?™s auto or enable, you can disable a bunch of other options but for some reason not this one.

Which seems really strange that you can?™t turn off when (depending on what mood they are in for the day) AMD considers PBO overclocking and voids warranty.

I would set the highest negative voltage offset to ensure PBO is not raising voltages
to dangerous levels. I would also set the SOC (VDD_SOC) to a negative offset to match
your PBO negative offset.

To be clear, I am not comfortable recommending anything short of updating your BIOS.
I say this because other users with similar questions will see this post. I am
not trying to scare you. Good luck and update your BIOS as soon as you are able
to ensure peace of mind and proper functionality with your 9800x3D
