I'd just like to confirm something quickly. The Ryzen 7 2700x that comes with a cooler and is listed as part YD270XBGAFBOX is not on the compatibility list for the Fatal1ty B450m Gaming k4 but the version sold sans cooler listed as part YD270XBGM88AF is. There seems to be no real difference aside from the cooler, but will the board boot with the cooler version or no?

There is no difference compared with a different cooler from the market. Both boxed or tray Ryzen 7 2700X processors should work fine.
The cooler is connected to the motherboard for power supply with a standard 4 pins plug. The only thing with the boxed version could possibly be that the RGB led function on top of the cooler housing is not yet supported. The leds will work but changing the colours with software may not be implemented yet. |

Thank you! Unfortunately while this answers my question I'm still left with a problem of the board not posting. At least I can rule out the cpu as the likely problem.

If you use a DDR4 two module kit, remove temporarily the second module in slot B2 in order to start your system and flash the BIOS to the latest version.
The power supply should be at least 700W Remove all items not required for the fist startup. |

Down to just one ram stick, cpu and a 750 psu. No response from the board other than the led slowly pulsing while the psu is engaged. No fans, beeps or VGA output.

Did you connect the 8 pin cpu power supply to the board, beside the 24 pin main mb power supply cable?

Both the 8 pin cpu cord and 24 pin motherboard cord are plugged in. PSU is confirmed good on another motherboard though that only had a 4 pin cpu slot.
Case cords and board speaker are plugged in according to the directions on the board and in the manual with the colored wires on the right side. |

On closer inspection it appears the pins on the cpu were bent.I'll be getting a replacement and seeing if that was the problem. Thank you for your assistance.
