I've got a friend that has Z170M Extreme4 board and his computer crashed yesterday in the middle of work. He had a backup using Veeam and we cant seem to get it to boot into Windows after restoring from backup. It keeps telling us that to Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key.

We went through the UEFI settings several times and tried a few different settings to no avail.

One strange thing is that it is able to boot into Windows if we format and install Windows from scratch. We dont want to do this because we dont want to reload all of his software and settings.

Any ideas? Cheers

Your PCIe SSD drive may not show in the Storage Configuration screen or Boot Order List, but make sure your Windows Installation Media (Whether USB or Optical Drive) does show in the Boot Order list. You should see UEFI: <Installation Media Device Name> entry in the list. ... You must use the one with the UEFI prefix.

Hello everyone. I have the H87 Pro4 and wish to upgrade my storage to m.2 nvme SSD. So before I take the plunge, here are my few question.

1. Can this motherboard support the m.2 nvme drive as a boot drive with the BETA Bios 2.40?

2. Seeing that in Asrock's official website, the H87 specs as
- 1 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot (PCIE2: x16 mode)
- 3 x PCI Express 2.0 x1 slots
- 2 x PCI slots (how many x slots are these?)

My graphic card is currently occupying the PCIE 3.0 slot, so if I were to buy a PCIE - M.2 NVME adapter, which slot will it be going to? As majority of the adapter list as only support PCI E X16, X8 and X4.

Here are a few adapter that I have shortlisted:
1. https://www.lazada.com.my/ugreen-pcie-to-m2-adapter-nvme-m2-pci-express-adapter-32gbps-pci-e-card-x4816-mb-key-ssd-computer-expansion-cards-i1259202191-s3778654999.html
2. https://www.lazada.com.my/ampcom-m2-nvme-to-pci-express-30-x4-adapter-card-32gbps-ssd-adapter-support-2280-2260-2242-2230-converter-to-desktop-pci-express-compatible-with-pci-e-x4-x8-x16-i1085064381-s3002540382.html

Would any of this work?

Has anyone had success with using m.2 with this motherboard?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
