This is my first Asrock motherboard and also my first motherboard with UEFI.

I'm used to set boot options to...
1. usb
2. ssd
... Mainly because I want to boot to recovery USB if my system crashes.

The problem is, you can not do this with the current version of UEFI. I mean you can set up to boot from USB but only if the USB is plugged into PC.
I mean seriously, what kind of design is that?

Anyway I have set up the boot options as 1. USB 2. Intel 660p ssd (with USB stick pluged in)and I have thought I was done with the settings.

But guess again. I was not even close.

So, it turns out that after you remove your USB stick, UEFI goes full on auto control and resets the boot order to, yes, you guessed it, ssd with no USB option even visible.

Am I missing something. Shouldn't UEFI be more advanced than BIOS? Certainly not in Asrock's case...

Also, whenever I turn on the fast boot I still see the screen with boot options even though I've set up screen to 0 seconds.

I really don't know what to say... Motherboard is excellent but this kind of incompetence can really turn off users...

Motherboard: B450 Steel Legend
UEFI version 2.63B date 2019/7/31 (latest recommended)

Edit: Well you can't edit. Not even for a simple spell correction, but you can delete your post and post again. Who comes up with this things for you Asrock?

Dear MJ.nfl,

Thank you for posting your review to ASRock forum.

So sorry to hear that you have such experience with first UEFI motherboard.

We have a few suggestions for you.

If a user has encountered a situation where the system needs to recover with USB disk, you are able to press F11 button while the system starts then you are able to select which boot device you would like to boot from.

Also, the boot screen cannot be turned off because, for some users, they wished to have the boot screen show even after turning on fast startup. Also turning off the boot screen will not affect any boot timing.

Thank you for your understandings.

With thanks,
ASRock TSD

I have just tested my friend's dirt cheap HP laptop and even that has a USB boot option that doesn't turn off. So your reply doesn't make sense.
There is an obvious bug, but you/Asrock just don't care. Neither will I.

I will be sure to post online my experience just so others don't fall for Asrock's inferior product.
