Hello?
I was looking to buy some new ram and processor so I flashed my chip with your bios? 1.70 as advised on the support website. The flash seemed to go OK but the computer didn't reboot and hung without booting into windows again.? It got as far as the windows splash screen before a bsod too fast to read.
I am running xp 64 bit with 8gb of? kingston hyperx on a sata 2 drive and also occasionally use the ide drive as backup.?
When i discharge the power?- sometimes taking more than 60 seconds - it will start up momentarily but often crash out of bios while i am trying to change the settings. The bios screen when it came up did show the correct bios name.?
Have tried replacing the cmos and changing cmos jumpers. Where possible I have changed other settings. I think i had storage set at IDE originally for some reason to get the mobo to work at all when i first got it - is that necessary?for XP?
Anyway I managed to get in long enough?via bios to flash again to 1.60 but again it didn't reboot as instructed but shut down. On manual restart the machine just crashed. Finally got into bios again after long power down and tried to reflash to 1.30 which I believe was the version of bios on the board before i started this. The computer crashed mid-flash and will now not show anything except a black screen.
Is there anything further I can do? Would a new bios? chip fix this - most seem to come with the latest bios and not sure if XP can handle that? Where is the bios chip and how easy is it to replace - do i need to solder or use a heat gun?? w
I appreciate this is old eqpt but had just ordered 32gb ddr3 which is in the post and need an xp machine to? run various programs.
