Z170 Extreme6+ Mac Address Invalid

Newcomer here, hoping someone can help. 
2 days ago I purchased an Asrock Z170 Extreme6+ m/b, and build a PC with 8GB Patriot DDR4 RAM and Core i5-6600.

To cut a long story short, on each boot it now displays a message saying that the "Intel MAC addresses are invalid in both CMOS and Flash"

I can only continue by pressing F1. Needless to say this is more than an inconvenience!

Having researched the issue I have found quite a few instances where other people have had similar problems with Asrock motherboards in the past, and the fix seems to involve re-setting the MAC address using a tool that can be downloaded here:

However, even if this is the correct solution, I would need to know my MAC address. On the edge of the board I have found 2 sets of numbers that could be MAC addresses (i.e. 12 characters 0-F), but neither of them seem to have a Asrock prefix. One prefix is D06099 and the 057F18 and neither is written in the usual MAC address format nn-nn-nn- etc.

The problem may be that there is a cowling over the Ethernet ort on the m/b, so the real MAC address may be shown under there.

Does anyone have any suggestions other than to take it back? Even if I had the MAC address, would this tool work for my motherboard? Could I use a randomly generated MAC address?

For the record, I have built around 30 PCs over the years, and have never had this problem. I almost always use Gigabyte boards, but thought I'd try something different this time - not impressed!

	Oh, just to add, I put in a request for assistance to Asrock (by form) yesterday. So far I have only received an acknowledgement. How long do they usually take to get back?

	This issue is now resolved thanks to assistance from Asrock Support. I thought I'd post this to assist anyone else who might have the same problem. Probably best to contact Asrock as I did to get instructions for your particular motherboard. When I did so, they replied with this email: Dear customer, Thank you for contacting ASRock. Please download the tool from the link to re-write the MAC. download link: http://www.asrock.com/support/Download/mac161B.zip Please open the chassis and you can find a sticker on PCB with MAC id. Save the tool in a bootable disk and boot, key in as follow: A:/>mac <enter> It will list the function key description, then please key in as follow: A:/>mac c [mac ID] <enter> If it is success, it will show following information: MAC ID:XXXXXXXXXXXX SUM: XX Write MAC function call OK. About the MAC address, it's 12 characters please refer to attach file. Thanks for your E-mail. Have a great day ASRock TSD The link appears to be different to the one I posted earlier, so may be specific to the motherboard. I followed their instructions, but the first time I tried it didn't seem to work. Windows reported the new MAC address correctly, but I was still getting the same message from the BIOS. I cleared the CMOS using the button on the rear panel, and rebooted but I still had to press F1 to continue, so I repeated the MAC write instructions again and this time it fixed the problem completely. The attached file they referred to contained a picture of my motherboard showing where to find the MAC address. In my case it was on the edge of the board near the Power & Reset buttons beside the memory slots. Edited by dcw - 20 Nov 2015 at 9:20am

	Updated my bios from P1.4 to P2.10 and had no effect (not that one was expected, but it's a good start). The solution posted also confirmed working for my Asrock Z97M Pro4. I followed the steps. Created bootable FreeDOS flashdrive using the Rufus utility. Copied the above zip onto the drive. Booted to drive and completed the steps above. Thanks!
