990fx Extreme3 and nvme?

   My HDD is dying and its going to be a few months before I'm building a new system.  My friends are recommending going to a Samsung 970 Evo Plus.  I understand I'll need an adapter, but am I going to be able to find a pcie 2.0 adapter at this point, and is it worth it rather than getting a regular SSD?  Also, if it is, am I going to be able to boot from it using Windows Server 2019?
