I'm here because I can't get any assistance from ASRock technical support. Every time I ask for help with one of their products I just get fobbed off and never get any useful answers.
So, I'm hoping there are some clever people here that can work with me to solve the above problem. Please bear with me, I've done a lot of testing and I can't summarize that in 10 words or less. What I've Tried Windows 7, 10 (1709, 1803, 1809, 1903), Windows 2012 R2 (2012 being the OS in use as this is my home server. I installed the other OSs only for testing purposes). Clean OS install with no applications, drivers or updates. 3 different USB enclosures (All different brands) 2 x 1 bay and 1 x 2 bay OS installed on SATA SSD and on M.2 NVMe SSD Disconnecting all other drives, and removing all but one RAM stick BIOS Versions 1.60 upwards, though version > 2.00 incur a massive performance hit (I guess from the side channel vulnerability patching). Every 15 minutes or so one of the three USB drives will disconnect. There is no discernible pattern. The USB enclosures need no drivers. The motherboard is an X299 Taichi. It has 2 x USB 3.1 Gen2 ports. So I have a drive connected to each, and another drive connected to a USB 3.0 gen 1 port. There are 8 SATA HDDs installed and an Optical drive (DVD-RW). The PSU is a 750w Corsair HX750i. According to my PSU tester, power is stable. I'd really appreciate some assistance with tracking this down. |
