Hey everyone, created this account and topic cause Im a big noob in hardware.

Motherboard : Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4
Processor : AMD Ryzen 1800X
Memory : FURY DDR4 16Go (2x8Go), 2400MHz CL15 DIMM XMP (HX424C15FB2K2/16)

Sooo here is the story :

Like a noob, I just wanted to add a little boost to my computer by adding 2 more 8GO RAM. So I've buy the EXACT same memory I had, to go from 16GO to 32GO.

The computer started to booting on loop.

I tryed to add just one, in my bios It switched to dual channel to single channel, in windows I had
RAM : 24GO installed (7.93GO usable)

After that I looked to the manual of my motherboard :

http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Manual/Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4.pdf

Page 22 (Installing Memory Modules (DIMM)), dont really understand the table but I think my motherboard just cant run 4x8GO 2400mhz.

Now I feel like an idiot, waiting for some pros answer cause I dont know If I have to ask for a refund of the 2 new memory stick I've just buy

Have a wonderful day !

Just another user here, but I don't see you wasted money on memory.

Fury DDR4 you have is single rank. Should run 2400 no problem.

Three banks of 8Gb will not run dual-channel, and drop to single. You need to run either two or four to get dual-channel read/write.

When changing memory amounts, motherboard reboots a number of times to "train" the motherboard to run your ram. Is that what happened? Can you hit the DEL key and enter the Bios? What does it say about memory on the front page?

Trying to help

Thanks a lot for your answer, really appreciate it !

Forgot to mention that my bios is up to date with the software "AMD all in 1" from the support page.

When I've plugged in the 2 new banks on A1 and B1 channel the computer started to "boot loop", I cant go in the BIOS cause my screen stay black. I mean I cant reach windows or doesnt see the ASROCK logo before. It just start, stay like ... 10 sec and restart. I cant do nothing. But I've dont tryed to spam F2 to go in the BIOS in that case, I've just plugged of the 2 new bank lol.

When I saw like 3/4 reboot I instantly put off the computer and plugged off the banks cause I dont want to loose data on this computer.

"When changing memory amounts, motherboard reboots a number of times to "train" the motherboard to run your ram. Is that what happened?"

I dont know, how much time it should reboot ? after 3/4 reboot I've plugged off the 2 new banks. Maybe I should let him work... I was thinking it was like a security mode...

If you understand it, can you explain my the table on page 22 of the manual ? Cause I see my 2400mhz with only DR marked in A2 and B2, like I cant put 2 other bank in A1 and B1. But maybe im just wrong that why I post a new topic here

Also to note :

Saw on internet that my Ryzen 1800X is a "Summit Ridge"

here on the QVL list I can find my ram (HX424C15FB2K4/32) :
https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/Fatal1ty%20AB350%20Gaming%20K4/index.asp#Memory

In the DIMM Socket Support it have mention 2/4... So now I really dont know what to think ahah

Fixed it after a lot of hour of research !

My first think was the good one: Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4 can?™t run 4 kit at 2400mhz

I?™ve put the 4 kit at 2133mhz(in EUFI) and it boot !! I can see 32GO in my settings.

QUESTION:

Is there a big difference between thoses ? I?™m a total noob in hardware. My computer is 70% for producing music and 30% for gaming.

In fact idk if 16go at 2400mhz is better than 32GO at 2133mhz. Don?™t rly know how much thoses mhz impact the speed of the computer.

EXCELLENT NEWS. Happy to hear!

Do not give up, now that you have got the computer to boot up. The specifications on your memory looks very good, probably 16G @ 2400mhz would be fast enough. but I am confident you can get all four to run *AT LEAST* 2400mhz all together.

When you turn on, get into Bios, look for OC (overclock) page, then look for listing of your rams. Click on the option for "XMP" could be "XMP 1.0" This stands for "Xpanded Memory Profile" which is when your computer reboots to check 4 x 4 memory and set the speeds.

There is also probably an option for "Training Reboots" like 3 or 4, so you can see what it is, and then you will know how many times to expect your machine to boot loop. Good luck!

Page 22 of manual Ryzen memory
SR=Single Rank DR=Double Rank.

Your Kingston is SR so line SR SR SR SR = 2133-2400mhz

The manual is older than latest flash UEFI BIOS. Many updates of Bios will enable even faster ram speeds. Try the XMP and see it work! :D

Thanks a lot for the tips it worked

My XMP 2.0 Profile was like that :
DDR4-2400 15-15-15-35 1.20V

I switched the option 'Load XMP settings' from auto to the XMP 2.0 Profie and it worked !

In my task manager I can see that I have 32 GB running at 2400MHz.

Thanks a lot for your time and answer, I think everything is worked as expected now
