After years away from custom PC builds I wanted to get back into 3D modelling and some light video editing. This past Xmas I purchased:

- ASRock X570 STEEL LEGEND WIFI AX
- Ryzen 7 3800X
- GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2070 Super GAMING
- WD WDS500G2X0C 500GB High-Performance NVMe M.2
- (2) WD 6 TB
- EVGA SuperNOVA 80+ GOLD, 750W Power Supply

I'm having such a pain trying to get the machine running. I was hoping to get 32-64GB of decent speed and good timings. After reviewing the QVL for Matisse I can't find a good combination that will post above 3000 MHz, and is available on newegg/Amazon and a decent price.

I first purchased RAM that was on sale ... G.SKILL Trident Z Neo (For AMD Ryzen) Series 64GB (4 x 16GB) 3200 (PC4 25600) and it wouldn't post over 2400 MHz.

I then tried... G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (4 x 16GB) 3200 F4-3200C16D-32GVK and it wouldn't post over 2400 MHz.

I then checked the QVL and purchased HyperX Predator Black 64GB kit 3200MHz DDR4 DIMM XMP (HX432C16PB3K2/32) and none of the timings were not matched so I was going to send it back anyways but they also wouldn't post over 3000 MHz even as just 2 sticks (32 GB total.)

So now I am looking for another alternative.... can anyone help recommend a good choice of ram that will work for my setup, low timings, is easily available and a decent price?

Man, that sucks. I can readily sympathize.

I run X470 Taichi so cannot talk directly about your board. BUT ... I landed on some top-rank memory with the famous Samsung "B" die. I have run this board with 2700X, 3900X, and finally, 3950X. The memory would not run at rated speed through about three different UEFI bios, getting closer each time. Finally, with the 1.0.03 ABBA I hit the XMP 2.0 in setup, and it just flew!

I started with two 8gb, liked it so well I bought another set, and now run all four sticks @ 3200Mhz 14-14-14-31 manufacturer specs.

AsRock, unfortunately, along with failing to update X470 Taichi bios in a timely manner, appears also to have very little time to test and update their memory QVLs. "Matisse" processors aren't even listed under my board support page.

You have no way to be assured. But this memory is the cat's pajamas in my experience for the timings and low latency!

Seems decent for sure but with video editing and CAD as my main goal for this machine I was really looking for 64GB of ram, I see Team Dark only has 8GB. Any recommendations for 16GB low latency sticks?

I would not hesitate to check out the rest of Team Group memory. There are some different models they offer in 16Gb ranks. XTREEM seems to be one.

64 GB should be dual-rank sticks. It's hard to drive 4 sticks at higher clocks, let alone dual-rank. If you really want them to run at 3600, you should play with timings, and VDDP and SoC voltages. Ryzen RAM calculator to the rescue.
I have 64 GB Crucial Ballistic Sport LT BLS2K16G4D32AESC (Micron e-die) running stable at 3600 with 16-19-16-32 primary timings on X570 Taichi. I had them booting even at 3733, but that was unstable, probably due to IF clock limitation, and dropping IF clock does not make practical sense. It's no Samsung b-die, but these 64 GB kits can be found at around $300 (or you can by 2 32 GB kits for even little less). They come in 3 colors, it does not matter which color to pick, the chips are the same.

Also, not that it sounds like you feel adventurous, but there's Patriot PVS432G320C6K memory (Hynix ICs) at $130 for 32GB kit that seems to be running at 3200 MT/s stock and 3600 MT/s with bumped voltage and looser timings on Ryzen 3000.

Ballistics Sport LT are not on the QVL for the Steel Legend Wifi Ax....
Are these dual rank sticks?

I run 2 x 16GB of the HyperX Predator Black 16GB 3200MHz DDR4 CL16 DIMM XMP Desktop PC Memory (HX432C16PB3/16) .. on the non wifi version of your x570 Steel Legend .. they are running great. I relaxed the timings a bit (CAS 18) and have them running at PC3600 even without issue. 3700x CPU and a 5700XT video card. Are you running the latest BIOS? (2.20)

...as far as QVL ... I run 3 different Ryzen setups and non of them have QVL listed RAM in them yet all run at their rated specs.
