    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 at 5:11am
Hello my friends! I recently upgraded my GPU from a RX 570 to a GTX 1070. I tried plugging it in, but the PC didn't post and the screen remained black. I tried it with a diffrend motherboard with the same PSU and CPU and it worked fine. What could be the reason behind this, I really don't have the money to buy another motherboard or GPU. The one I used to test the GPU was an MSI A320m Pro and all other GPUs I have work fine on my motherboard
Any help is welcome!

Specs:
GTX 1070 EVGA SC
Ryzen 5 2600
HyperX Ram @ 2667 MHz
Asrock A320m-DGS
Be quiet! Straight Power E7 500W
Kingston Barracuda 1 TB

First thing .. make sure the card is fully seated into the PCIe slot . .should get a definitive "click" when it goes all the way in..

Does it boot with the RX 570 back in it?

Yes my RX 570 still works too. I made sure to push it in until I heard a click but with no success.

Have you tried different display outputs? If you have tried HDMI then try DP or DVI.

I tried DP and HDMI, I don't have a DVI cable, so I might get one soon to try. But my PC just doesn't POST which doesn't happen with any other GPU. It's like the GPU doesn't get recognised.

Have you tried taking the motherboard out of the case and try the 1070 and see if you get a display?

Yes I did that too. I have no idea why it isn't working. I traded my motherboard with my friends and it worked just fine.

The only noticable diffrence between the two motherboards is that mine has only a 4 pin connector while my friend's has 8 pins. Maybe the power delivery on the DGS is capped at 75W while the GPU needs more? This is the only plausible reason I can come up with.

To clarify, my RX 570 needed an 8 Pin and a 6 PIN to power it. My GTX 1070 only needs one 8 PIN for external power even tho it has a higher TDP, maybe ot relies on the PCIe slot for most of its power draw.
