Hi guys and girls, hoping someone can help me.

Over the weekend, when trying to boot up my desktop machine, all of a sudden it comes up with the following:-

PCIe x1 5.0gbps

Mode PassThru AHCI

Disks Information: No hard disk is detected!

The motherboard for this machine is ASRock Xtreme4 Gen3 Z68 and the boot drive is a Kingston 240GB SSD, with a Samsung 1TB HDD for data.

I have tried the following to help resolve the issue:-

1. Check storage configuration in BIOS to ensure that it is set as AHCI

2. I have tried resetting BIOS, which took it back to IDE and legacy etc

3. Using photos, change the settings individually 1 by 1 back to what it was

4. I have removed the data drive completely, then tried to plug in the SSD in to Sata ports 0-6, none of which picked up the drives

5. When plugging in to ports 7-8 which are Sata3_M1 / M2 ports the disk is recognised, but unable to boot - just flashing cursor

6. I have updated the BIOS to v2.5 which is most recent on the manufacturers website

7. I have exactly the same disk, brand new unused and this is also not being picked up in the BIOS.

8. When the disk is used in the Sata3_M1 / M2 port and is recognised, I booted to a win10 USB and it states 139GB free of 240GB, so data is still present on the disk.

I'm pulling my hair out as it stands, could really do with getting this up and running if possible, any suggestions would be really grateful.

Next steps I can think of:-

1. Try a different Sata cable

2. Plug in data drive and see if recognised in Sata ports 0-6

Thanks,
