Hi, I've just inherited an FX990 Extreme9 board which I placed a Phemon2 X4 AM3 95w (HDX925WFK4DGM)chip onto the board. Reset the bios etc. I do not know what CPU was it on it before. I turn it on via the motherboard button and the board fires then dies (brief second). Tried a few bios resets. Cards out - memory out. Still briefly fires then dies). I took of the ATX12v 8pin connector, switched on the board and fired but didn't post.
The CPU worked when I pulled it from my current setup. The board, I was told worked when it was pulled. Any ideas? Thanks |

Pull the CPU and make sure that you don't have any bent or missing pins and that
it isn't forced in with the wrong orientation. If that is all ok then pull the board from the case and try and power it up outside the case resting on it's box. There could be something shorting under the board causing a short protection issue. |
