Hi all,
I bought the motherboard in subject for my new pc. The cpu is i5 6600 and i have installed samsung 950 pro ssd on m.2 slot. The motherboard arrived to me with 1.60 firmware and i had same issues to get ssd recognized from bios and, also, some times my display reports incorrect input signal and black screen, but this just sometimes. So i decided to upgrade firmware to 1.9, and the process finished correctly. but now I'm not able to verify if there are same recognition issues yet because display, after a few seconds (20-30) from start , continues to report incorrect input signal but now it happens every times i turn on the machine. I tried to change display, it is the same model but different one, but i have the same issue. display is connected to motherboard through HDMI. How may i understand if it is a gpu issues (ie gpu integrated in cpu) or if it is something else? is there something i could configure from bios to resolve this problem? and then, but at this point it is secondary , what is the correct bios configuration to allow motherboard to recognize samsung 950 pro? thank you very much P.S. i hope my english is enough undestandable

updating...
i was able to enter in advanced bios page and set "full hd uefi" to disbled before display becoming black and after restart i set in advanced/chipset configuration page "primary graphic adapter " to Onboard. Well now display don't became black definitively but sometimes i have an image flickering or one second black screen. At the end now i am able to use bios configuration tools. probably i still have a problem but now i may work. Suggestions ? regarding 950 pro recognition, i have different information. If i look "boot" page in bios i find in boot option properties- boot option #1 samsung 950, pro but if a look in "advanced\storage configuration" page in M.2 (pcie) slot i find "not detected" and also if i look in "tool\boot manager" page i am not able to select 950 pro in boot device. All this makes sense? thank you very much |

new update...
i noticed that enabling CSM and setting all parameters to legacy only in bios, my 950 pro was recognized by bios as bootable device. So i tried to install win 10 pro from dvd and it was installed on ssd directly. The system start now and seems quite stable but there are some things that don't convince to me: -if i turn off the system and then i turn on all works, but if i restart system from windows, display became black but machine doesn't reboot, i have to turn off it manually. -from samsung magician software in system information i see 10 Gbps is correct? (i remember it was 32 Gbps) -during win 10 updating sometimes display reports incorrect input signal although system still working. thank you very much |

Hi i recently bougth the same motherboard and i have the same exact problem with the video.
Another guy has the same problem on this italian forum: http://www.tomshw.it/forum/problemi-post-assemblaggio/552098-artefatti-grafici-pc-appena-assemblato-urgente.html I partially solved using a dedicated gpu. I said partially because the main problem is that i paid for a working motherboard and this is not. I'm using ASRock H170 pro4s with Intel Pentium G4400. Can i ask you a question? Did you power your cpu with 4 pin or with 8 pin? Thanks, Stefano Pace.

hi Stefano and thanks for reply,
i plugged in "ATX power connector (atx12v1)", it is n°1 in page 1 in quick installation guide, 8 pin did you refer to it?

Yes you can use only 4 of the 8 pin if you don't need more power. For example my PSU doesn't have the 8 pin connector at all and i was forced to use 4 pin. I was wondering if it could be a power problem but if you are telling me that you are using all the 8 pin i can exclude this.
Have you solved the problem with black screens using the motherboard video outputs?

Hi guys!
I wanted to join the discussion as I have the very same problem (exccept the ssd issue, I had no problem with that): I have a AsRock H170 Pro4s motherboard along with a Samsung S22E391HS/EN monitor and I am using an HDMI cable to connect those two. I am using the integrated HD 530 gpu of my cpu (i5-6400). No matter if I am in the uefi or in win10 I keep getting random screen flickering (only the bottom of the screen) and black screens, sometimes they do not appear fo at least 15-20 minutes but sometimes they make it impossible to use the PC. The weird thing is that if I use the Pc with a TV there is no issue. If I connect a lapotop or a PS4 to the monitor there is no issue. The problems only occur when the PC and the monitor meet each other. I have tried putting the RAMs to other slots, tried to disable PC case fans to save power, I have checked all power connectors, removed every drive but the ssd with win10 and an optical drive but nothing helped. Oh, my psu has a 4pin ATX12V connector but I use it with a 4pin-8pin adapter so all 8pins are occupied on my mobo. I also tried to change colour palettes and refresh rates but nothing helped (I thought the problem might be an incompatible screen setting). I have the latest drivers for every component along with the latest uefi from AsRock. It is really annoying as I do not want to purchase a dedicated gpu, I want to use the integrated one. If you have any updates please share it, I will do the same. EDIT: The issue is still there when using a DVI-to-HDMI adapter, blinking and black screens are still there.

Replacing the board solved the problem for me. Seems that the VGA part of the board was faulty.

I have the same problem with H170 pro4s. I use VGA-to-HDMI adapter for the monitor. And i have no discrete graphics card. Evry time when I reboot computer I have black screen. I have to swithch off computer manually and wait for 10-15 minutes. When I turn on computer again the problem is disappear.
I try to change BIOS setup: select the built-in graphics card as main. But it doesn't help. Has anybody solved this problem?
