Hi, maybe someone can help me.

I tried to update the vBIOS of my AMD Radeon RX 6800 Phantom Gaming D 16G OC to the latest version L02 on ASRock website.

I followed the instruction precisely but as soon as I launched the Update file the screen went blank and the card stopped working :(

It seems to be bricked. In Windows it's reporting error 43.

What can I do?

Dear Malcolmspiteri,

Thanks for posting your query to the ASRock forum.

From your description, it seems that the system is unstable which caused the system stopped working while flashing the vBIOS.

We have some suggestions for you to try:

Please try to install the graphics card on a different system.
(By this step, you are able to tell if it is just the motherboard failure that caused the system to shut down.)

If the graphics card works properly, then the graphics card should not be worried.

With thanks,
ASRock TSD

Many thanks for your reply.

I tried to put in another PC, but unfortunately it didn't work either.

In all PCs I tried, ff the graphics is installed in any PCI-E slot, the PC doesn't boot at all. As soon as I remove it or unplug its power, the PC boots up fine.

It seems to be totally dead :(

Do you have another GPU you can install?

If you do, put the working GPU in the top PCIe x16 slot and the damaged one in
the bottom slot. See if you can boot with it installed in the second slot. If so
you should now be able to attempt to reflash the bricked GPU. The flashing
utility should detect which card it is, if not then post back here.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that using an old Radeon card I had kicking around. The PC refuses to boot whenever the card is inserted in any of the slots. I have an MSI motherboard. Perhaps using another brand of motherboard could work...
