hola!
I just get new Samsung SM950 PRO 256 Gb NVME and ASRock Z170 Extreme4. Can I use SM950 as boot drive? Or I should upgrade BIOS? Can I upgrade it from BIOS using USB drive? thanx!

You have either a Samsung 950 Pro, or a Samsung NVMe SM951. There is no Samsung SM950 Pro SSD. Both are NVMe SSDs, and both can be used as a boot drive, but it is easier if you are using Windows 8.1 or 10. You can check this guide about installing Windows on a PCIe SSD. If you have never done that before, you really must read the guide: http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1236&title=how-to-install-windows-on-a-pcie-ssd You can use a USB flash drive with the Instant Flash BIOS update file to update the BIOS, with the Instant Flash feature in the BIOS. Check which BIOS version you have on the board now, you may not need to update the BIOS to use your SSD. If your Internet connection is working, you can use the Internet Flash feature in the BIOS, that automatically downloads the latest BIOS version and installs it. |
