Hi!
I have a problem with my mobo (I think anyway). Sometimes when I turn on PC it "loads" BIOS really long and then there is DOS black screen with blinking "_" in the corner and only after another 15 sec Win7 starts to load. When all loaded Keyboard or mouse dont work although both are lit (I have Asus Strix Tactic keyboard and Asus Strix Claw mouse). So i have to unplug and plug back in hardware. In most cases its happening to keyboard dont matter which USB port I will plug it in. Other problem is when Im turning off my PC and keyboards leds on "Num Lock", "P1" and "NKRO" staying lit all the time but all other lighting turns off. Does anyone had problem like that? Or maybe someone knows whats the problem? When I first bought MOBO it didnt happened only after around 3 weeks started. Would it be BIOS issue or something else? Please help... |

When you described turning on the PC and the time it takes to ""loads" BIOS really long...", that sounds like the POST process that happens whenever a PC is started or restarted. POST (Power On Self Test) is a set of test and set-up functions that insure the hardware in a PC is basically working correctly, and able to boot/load an Operating System, like Windows. One part of POST is detecting and initializing devices connected via USB, such as a keyboard and mouse. POST can have problems with complicated keyboards and mice like yours, that use special software that runs in Windows that provides all their features. It seems as if the POST process that checks and sets up keyboards and/or mice has difficulty communicating or dealing with your keyboard and/or mouse. That is, if you have tried using a standard, simple keyboard and mouse, and you don't get the same problem with the delay of POST, and the blank screen with flashing underscore cursor. Have you ever tried using a different or basic keyboard with your PC? I looked up your keyboard since I was not familiar with it, searching on "Asus Strix Tactic keyboard". I'm assuming this is your keyboard, or one of the variations of this model: https://www.asus.com/Keyboards-Mice/STRIX_TACTIC_PRO/overview/ I found that there are six versions of the software used with this keyboard, three of which are classified as Beta versions, for use with Windows 7. Of more importance in this case, I found four firmware updates for this keyboard listed under Windows 7, although they likely apply to any OS version. This is the download page for the software and firmware updates: https://www.asus.com/Keyboards-Mice/STRIX_TACTIC_PRO/HelpDesk_Download/ What firmware and software versions are you using with your keyboard? Your Asus Strix Claw mouse shares the software used with the keyboard, but has six firmware updates of its own, found here: https://www.asus.com/Keyboards-Mice/STRIX_CLAW/HelpDesk_Download/ Have you updated the firmware for your mouse? It's clear that the firmware and driver/software for your keyboard and mouse have had several important updates that could fix the problems you are now having. The software used to configure the keyboard and mouse may have problems in the earlier (and current) versions that are appearing as you have used them for a while. Before we can continue, we need to know that status of the software and firmware updates, and if you have the same problem with a more standard keyboard. |

parsec,
I actually thought about it this morning that it might be Strix problem as only keyboard or mouse are affected. You found correct devices and You are also right that there are new version of software which were release only 3 days ago, so I tried this one and will test it for few days and see what will happen (or not) as for now it looks promising. On monday I will use standard keyboard and mouse like You advised and also see what will happen. I hope its just some Strix software bug that I can live with. Thanks for Your help! I will post about progress |
