Yes, there are likely RAM problems. I did the same thing thinking I could buy 2 more sticks of the exact same RAM when needed to double mine. Apparently this is a newbie mistake and there is a chance that you could get lucky and have it work but the odds are against you. Apparently, if you want 4 sticks of RAM you need to buy them all at once to ensure that they are tested as a compatible set. The manufacturer goes to extra steps to be certain that all 4 sticks are compatible. Do some searching and you might find a way to test the sticks to see what will work.

I am about to start a new thread as I am having issues too.

Did you clear the UEFI/BIOS after putting the new memory in the PC? Or when you used all the memory together for the first time? You must clear the UEFI/BIOS when you add or move memory to different slots.

Does the new memory used with the older memory not even work at stock speed, 2133?

What speed memory do you have?

As UTRockHound said, sometimes you can mix two separate kits of the "identical model" of memory and they will work together, but other times they will not work together.

For example, I bought some Crucial 2133 DDR4 memory, one kit of four DIMMs, and later another kit of two DIMMs. They were otherwise the same model number of memory. I used the four DIMM kit in my ASRock X99 board, and the two DIMM kit in my ASRock Z170 board.

Later on I bought a two DIMM kit of G.SKILL 3200 TridentZ memory, to use in my Z170 board. I thought I would try to put the two Crucial 2133 DIMMs in my X99 board with the four DIMM kit.

The two kits of Crucial 2133 memory worked together fine, and I could even OC them to 2400.

What is the difference between Crucial and G.SKILL? One thing I know is different is Crucial makes their own memory chips. They don't buy memory chips from someone else, like Samsung or Hynix.

G.SKILL does not make any of their own memory chips. They buy them from Samsung and other manufactures. So G.SKILL will run out of memory chips from one source, and use memory chips from another source in the same model number of memory. Or, G.SKILL will buy more memory chips from the same manufacture, but the chips will be slightly different, and don't exactly match the specs of the earlier batch of chips. So when they are used together, they won't work right.

But I've also tried mixing two different models of G.SKILL DDR3 memory in a mother board, and they worked fine.

How do we know when the memory chips were changed in a model of memory? We can't, unless we can actually look at the chips used in every DIMM we have.

Since Crucial makes their own memory chips, it is more likely that they won't change the model of chips used in a model of memory. But most memory manufactures do NOT make their own memory chips. So when we mix different kits of memory and they do work together, we were just lucky.

	hello i have a problem, i am currently using 2x4 sticks of tridentz ram, works just fine, i recently bought another 2 of the same exact kind but motherboard wont boot with the 4 in it, only the 2. any reason why? i did test the 2 new sticks by its self and yes they work just fine, also bios IS up to date.
