I have recently purchased a X99 Extreme 4/3.1 motherboard, running Win 10 64bit, i7 5820K, 64gb ram, GTX 980Ti, Samsung 950 Pro ssd etc, everything has been going well except I have noticed when I was transfering data to it from my older computer that it was moving really slow. I setup the network to run at 1Gb full duplex & have all my other computers at this with no problems. No matter what settings I tried, drivers from this site, a fresh install of Win 10, no matter what I do I can not get the network card to run smoothly at 1Gb speed as it is advertised to do.
I built this machine to run my small network of render nodes & the network stability & speed is critical to me, has anyone experienced this or is there any known work around. I have tried looking around & I am having no luck. Yes I know I can buy a pci-e nic but that would likely change my machine id & I already have software licensed to this system id. I have tried 2 different branded & new cat 6e cables, different ports on the switch (that I know are working). To test the stability I have tested it pinging a local machine on the network, with the nic set to 100mb & doing a ping test of 4000 pings it comes back with 0% failure, tested this 2-3 times now. With only changing the nic to 1Gb and repeating the test I get anywhere from 2 - 9% failure rate. They seem to come in waves about every 45sec. I have run this test to from two other pc's on the network to the same address pinged & both came back with 0% failure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Josh |

I had same problem but also problem with another x99 board MSI and different ethernet adapter. I removed the garbage called Windows 10 and installed Windows 7 and no probs since.
