I am in the process of replacing my Ryzen 1700 with 5800X3D and needed more clarity on the exact sequence of version updates. This is the board that shipped in 2017 perhaps from the first batch and has been running the factory BIOS since.
Thanks.

Send ASRock support a message.

I upgraded my B450M Pro4 from a Ryzen 5 2600 to a Ryzen 5 5600.
I had BIOS 3.5 that I didn't upgrade because newer versions weren't recommended for my old CPU.
ASRock said to upgrade the BIOS with my OLD CPU in before putting the new CPU.
If you're in exactly the same situation then do what I did.

i have filled up the tech support form.. though i was looking up the BIOS page for the motherboard.. looks like theres no pre-requisite for V7.0 so i could perhaps directly update to v7 from current version (2.4) and then flash v7.1, i will have to do all that with the ryzen 1700 and then clear cmos and swap in the new cpu.

here's the BIOS page:
https://www.asrock.com/mb/amd/x370%20killer%20sliac/index.asp#BIOS

also do i have to unzip the rom file or copy zip files as-is on a USB drive?
thanks

Look at the BIOS versions above your current one. If there is a bridge BIOS between
your current BIOS and the version you plan to update to then you likely will need
to upgrade to that first.

ASRock Tech Support will tell you for sure though. When they reply it would be great
if you post back here so we have it on record here on the forums.

You can first check if your desired GPU can be supported by your system specifications. Check at the Nvidia website and then you can ask from asrock team for the procedure.

You can do a comparison check against your present GPU as well at the official site
