Hi all
ASRock has released BIOS versions for almost all of its 1st Gen Ryzen Motherboards to "Improve GPU compatibility for GeForce RTX 40 series": Chipset A320 - A320M Pro4 R2.0 - A320M Pro4-F - A320M Pro4 - A320M/ac - A320M - A320M-DVS R4.0 - A320M-DGS - A320M-HDVP - A320M-HDV R4.0 - A320M-HDV - A320M-ITX Chipset B350 - AB350 Pro4 - AB350M Pro4 R2.0 - AB350M Pro4-F - AB350M Pro4 - AB350M - AB350M-HDV R4.0 - AB350M-HDV - Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming-ITX Chipset X370 - X370 Killer SLI/ac - X370 Killer SLI - X370 Pro4 - Fatal1ty X370 Gaming - Fatal1ty X370 Gaming K4 - Fatal1ty X370 Gaming X - Fatal1ty X370 - X370M Pro4 - X370M-HDV R4.0 - X370M-HDV ASRock haven?™t released any BIOS update for X370 Taichi nor for X399 Series, I guess the reason is it won't be necessary but if ASRock offers an explanation here will be perfect to avoid speculation. Anyone has tried any RTX 40 Series GPUs on A320, B350, X370 or X399? If yes, what?™s your experience? Thanks |

I popped a 4090 FE in my X570 Taichi Razer Edition rig which has an Ryzen 9 X5950 CPU in running bios P1.60 and didn't have any obvious issues so far.
I've not yet tried the latest bios (1.90) with 'Improve GPU compatibility for GeForce RTX 40 series'. What I want to know is what exactly the compatibility issue they improved is? |

I own a Fatal1ty X399 mainboard and am aiming to put a 4090 on it.
If somebody could share some experiance with RTX 40 and a X399 board that would be awesome! |

Hi all
Finally upgraded to an RTX 4080 FE and everything works as expected considering that most modern* CPUs/Motherboards can squeeze better performance of last generation GPUs. - Just my guess: Nvidia confirmed black screens problems on certain motherboards and the RTX 40 series https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5411/~/nvidia-gpu-uefi-firmware-update-tool It has not been my case, I have been able to access UEFI and OSs without problem. I guess ASRock put BIOS to "Improve GPU compatibility for GeForce RTX 40 series" for this reason ... or not. I asked tech support if RTX 40 and Radeon RDNA 3 were compatible with the X399 Taichi and they quickly and kindly answered yes. Every answer from ASRock here is always welcome but it is a lottery. Contrary to ASRock's voluntary silence, we can enjoy excellent technical support. If anyone has any questions about this feel free to asking them https://event.asrock.com/tsd.asp - Disadvantages of choosing RTX 40 in this moment: 1 - Obviously the price. The fact of being able to install Nvidia's proprietary drivers on the Linux OS of my choice has been decisive, unfortunately it is not the case of AMD (only Ubuntu for desktop). If you don't depend on any specific reason I think AMD RDNA 3 is much more worth for the money right now. Hopefully Intel can compete with both soon in future generations. 2 - The size and weight. Ok, cool and quiet ... but totally disproportionate and inconsistent! Fortunately I bought a Fractal Define R5 years ago and it has not been inconvenient to insert this "brick". If you don't have a large and very solid ATX case or you don't want to replace yours, forget this generation and expect models with a more reasonable size and weight. - Notice before installing: 1 - Don`t forget to uninstall Nvidia/AMD/Intel drivers on all OSs before install the new GPU. 2 - Highly recommend to restore UEFI to default before first boot, I forgot to do it and my X399 Taichi goes crazy very easily, suddenly the DIMM B2 was not recognizable in BIOS and I couldn't activate XMP. After clearing CMOS and reinstalling BIOS everything went back to normal. * X399 and Threadripper 2nd Gen are not old, AMD and AIBs are causing an accelerated obsolescence.I'm sure that if they wanted to they could maintain and offer us more versions of AGESA/BIOS/Drivers/App regularly, we have to insist so as not to be unfairly forgotten ahead of time, especially the X399 platform. |
