Greetings,
I am curious about the Audio installation. I have been ripping out what hair I have left, trying to stop the pops and crackles in the audio system. I finally settled on BIOS 1.11, a totally clean Windows install and using the ASRock auto installer for drivers. The auto installer did not install audio as Windows beat it to the punch. It also choked on the internal Graphics, but I just installed it using the inf files. I digress. I uninstalled the Windows audio drivers and deleted the devices. I then installed the ASRock package using the exe file. So far, so good. However everything else I've tried was so far, so good...for a time. The pops and crackles, when they start, seem to be tied to actions in the Windows environment: mouse clicks, changes in YouTube videos, navigation, etc. A good example is testing the sound in Windows Control Panel. Double click on the default sound device, go to advanced and click on the green test arrow. Each time the sound starts on the left and moves to the right, it clicks and pops. Is it the fact that there are 2 audio devices showing up in Device Manager: USB\VID_0B05&PID_19AC&REV_0001&MI_00 Realtek USB2.0 Audio - with a driver (10.0.22621.1) 2022-05-06 USB\VID_0BDA&PID_4014&REV_0001&MI_00 Realtek USB Audio - with a driver (6.3.9600.50) 2016-06-12 Should there be 2 audio devices showing up? Is it possible the two entries colliding is what is causing the pops and crackles? Should I disable one of the devices? Is one of the devices the front audio connectors? Where do I get answers? |

I have the following for Realtek devices:
>Audio inputs and outputs Realtek Digital Output (Realtek USB Audio) [driver v. 10.0.22621.1] >Sound, video and game controllers Realtek USB Audio [driver v. 6.3.9600.2337] Your guess is as good as mine as to what is supposed to be there. I can say I don't have any crackling or popping audio. One issue I'm having is Windows can't configure surround sound from the optical out. |

I would reach out to ASRock Tech Support directly:
https://event.asrock.com/tsd.asp You shouldn't be getting audio artifacts from the onboard. Edited by Xaltar - 22 Dec 2022 at 6:56pm |

This is not a software issue, it is a hardware Bug Asrock tries to hide.
Asrock messed up the design of the Audio block and just did not fixed it before tape-out of Fab B; This is quite common for unexperienced design team when integrating Realtek's DACs; inparticular the vref voltage is sensitive and if it is not filtered && too noisy, this is the result. Btw. the board shall have been failed all audio distortion tests. So this is an intentional left-over Bug by Asrock team and was probably categorized as "tolerated" by customer. But actually this is not acceptable for a 500USD board. It would be okay if this would be a 250USD board w/o Audio. |

Yup, I had the same issue, so I contacted ASRock support to ask if it was a known issue. They didn't say anything about it and said that they are ready to do a replacement.
I've read stories where they've sent out used boards, mine is just a few months old. Can't believe a top tier board has such a basic issue. |
