Hello guys,
I recently played 'Day´s Gone' when my self-build computer suddenly shut down and the DRAM light turned red. On my screen I cannot see anything too. So I sent my GPU, motherboard and RAM sticks back to MindFactory for them to check them. Since they said there were no issues I thought I could use my computer now, but I still get the red light. Is it possible for my CPU to be faulty and the DRAM light to turn red? The power supply seems to be stable and enough since all coolers are spinning and the LEDs are turning on. So now either my CPU or my power supply could be the issue, but why would the DRAM light turn on then? Hope somebody has got an answer. Thanks in advance. |

Just realized that my keyboard is not working as well. When I use the caps button no light turns on on the keyboard anywhere. So that might be connected.

Both the CPU and PSU could cause the issue yes. I would try another PSU first, if
that doesn't resolve the issue then RMA your CPU. Fans and LEDs will still work even if the PSU is all but dead, so long as the PSU is powering on and providing any amount of voltage the fans and LEDs will come on. That voltage could be 9v instead of 12v or fluctuating rapidly between 0 and 12v etc. The only way to test a PSU is with a good multi meter that can read exact voltages and test for ripple (fluctuation). The CPU contains the memory controller, if your CPU has a bad or marginal controller then you would get the RAM LED lighting up. A bad/weak PSU can cause the memory controller to fail to initialize. So PSU first then if that doesn't help CPU |
