The motherboard lights up (Fatal1ty X370) but won?™t turn on. It doesn?™t beep, and the fan doesn?™t start. I removed everything but the CPU. I aslo tried starting it with different components, like 1 RAM, 2 RAMS, the graphic card, etc, but with no success.
Is the motherboard defective? I?™m asking because the motherboard lights up. Thank you |

I also replaced the PSU, removed the motherboard from the case, and started with a screwdriver.
Motherboard lights up but won't turn on, nothing. |

If nothing happens when you press the power button make sure you have no shorts.
Under the motherboard the component legs can bend and touch each other in some situations. This will cause power safety to kick in and prevent the system powering up. Make sure you are using the correct pins for your power switch. Check to make sure your clear CMOS jumper is not set to the clear position, this will also prevent the system powering on. Remove the CPU and check for bent/missing pins. |

Thank you for your help
When I press the power button, the only thing that lights up are the motherboard lights. Now I have the board out of the box only: board, fan, cpu and psu. I turn it on with a screwdriver, I'm doing it correctly because I have another board where I can test it I have tried the fan on another board and it does work. I have reinstalled the cpu, and tested it. I cleaned the board from dust with air and Isopropyl Alcohol 99%. Clear CMOS jumper is not set and I removed the cmos battery If the board is broken, why do the lights come on? Thank you. |

the motherboard model is Fatal1ty X370, that has a pulsating red light when you turn it on.

Unfortunately it would seem the board has died. The flashing lights only indicate
that the part of the board that controls the LEDs is getting power. The last thing I can think of for you to try would be to disconnect power from the board completely with no CMOS battery installed and leave it that way over night. If that fails odds are high the board is dead. At this point you can try remove the CPU, RAM and all other components. Connect the power to the board and bridge the PSU's power on pins (on the 24 pin connector). This will force the PSU to turn on. Leave it on like this for a minute or 2 and check to see if anything on the board is getting excessively hot. If not, put your CPU, RAM and GPU back in and try power up the board again normally (not by bridging the PSU pins). If it still won't power up then I am afraid the board is toast. I don't recommend bridging the PSU power on pins with components installed, if there is a serious problem with the board it could fry them. Good luck Edited by Xaltar - 18 Jan 2023 at 1:59am |
