I thought that with Win10 now installed for a month, and my Win10 REcovery DVD and USB working also, I should look to see if my MB needs an update. So I booted into the Bios UEFI and found that an update was indeed available. So I clicked it and it downloaded the new firmware and installed it.
I then rebooted into the Bios to check if there was anything interesting to notice. I did notice that under Boot option, rather thaN HAVING 4 OR 5 LISTED, THERE was only 2- boot to the HDD, and what looked something like boot to firmware or something, but what concerned me was whether I had lost the ability to boot into a DVD or USB. So I took a couple of pics which I will link to, and clicked Exit and the machine restarted with the power but NOTHING ever appeared or appears on the monitor - whether I try to let it boot into Windows or if I press the "Delete' button to enter the Boot UEFI setup pages. So now, I have nothing but the fan running but no options at all. Please help! Try clearing CMOS following these steps and see if that gets you up and running again.

Thanks for your reply. The instructions all make sense except this one which mystifies me:
"3. Place the "Clear CMOS" jumper in the clear position"/ Where or what is this CMOS jumper you refer to? Is it a toggle type switch located next to the CMOS battery? thanks Rollo

It is a set of 3 pins right next to the CMOS battery on your board (I determined as the FM2A88M Extreme4+ from your second image). The 3 pins will have a jumper (plastic covered bridge) bridging pins 1 and 2, you will need to move the jumper to bridge pins 2 and 3. Once the procedure is complete you will need to move the jumper back to pins 1 and 2.

Thanks Xalter
I'll give it a go tomorrow when I have a clearer head! IF this doesn't work, what does that mean, if I may ask. Does it mean the MB is irreparable? Rollo

If the system posted after the update then it is likely not a bricked BIOS. My instincts tell me that the CMOS clear should do the trick. If not then we will have to troubleshoot further.
Even if the BIOS were bricked you can always order a new one from ASRock directly because the chip is socketed

Hats Off to you, Xaltar, that did the trick!
I did notice that no USB option was available during the initial setup, but that is the least of my problems. Maybe it will reappear after awhile. Any other ideas about that? Thanks Again Rollo |

You mean no USB option in the boot list?
