I have a NT3150DC board, and an original Windows 7 Ultimate ISO file written to a USB device (1) with Microsoft's Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool.

With Win7UsbPatcher (v2.0.9), I created a new ISO file (PatchedImg.iso), using the USB device (1) as the original installation disk. Then, again with Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool, I wrote the PatchedImg.iso to a new USB device (2).

Booting the board with USB device (2) start the Windows 7 install process during which the USB keyboard and mouse respond correctly. The install is to a Samsung 850 SSD.

However, once the setup gets to naming the computer, the keyboard and mouse cease to respond.

I've also tried this with the Intel USB 3.0 Creator Utility with the same result.

Any suggestion how I can proceed with this board?

Thanks

I rummaged around to find my old CD drive so I could look at the manual that came with the mobo.

I had read the manual already of course, the one I download from the web site at the same time as I ordered the board.

Oddly the manuals are different.

Both claim to be version 1.0, published June 2015.

On page 25, the latest download manual has a section "3.3 Enabling USB Ports for Windows® 7 Installation" which takes the reader through instructions for using an out-of-date (?) version of Win7UsbPatcher. The screen shots do not match the latest downloadable version (2.0.9).

On page 25, the CD manual has a section "3.3 Creating Windows® 7 Installation Disk with USB 3.0 Drivers Packed" - same section number, different title, and this takes the reader through the process of manually building an installation kit (as an alternative?) to the Win7UsbPatcher.

So what's the latest?

Given that Win7UsbPatcher appears to have operational and consistency problems, is manually building the way to go?

(I'm very puzzled by the version inconsistency, is this brain-fade on my part?)
