The boot device list shows a line of what looks like simplified Chinese characters where my UEFI: Pioneer BD-209 device description used to be. How can I fix the entry? I've already tried a BIOS reload. No change. TIA.

Try a full CMOS clear and see if it corrects the corrupted entry.

Thanks, that did the trick. I used the quick CMOS reset. Remove power cord, short pins with jumper, wait 5 minutes, move jumper back to normal position, plug in PS and reboot.

This exercise also let me check whether my NVMe RAID 0 set would be deleted. It was not. I just had to redefine the storage, RST and CSM settings. The original RAID set reappeared.
