Hi all,
I currently have 3x AMD 7970 GPUs using USB3 risers and its working perfectly. I do have a 4th 7970 but having bricked an MSI and ASUS board with the 4th card, I'm worried it might do the same with the Asrock Z170 Pro4S. There is a difference with this board as it supports an extra 4-pin molex on the mobo for extra power to the PCI-E slots so I'm hoping it will be OK. To be sure its not the USB3 riser and cable, I have replaced with another one but again, just worried it'll "pop" and never work again. Any advice would be appreciated. NOTE: In order to get 3 cards to work, I had to changed the PCI-E config in BIOS to Gen2 rather that AUTO. Presume this is because AUTO defaulted to Gen3 and used up too many PCI lanes and so, the mobo did not have enough available resources left to deal with more than 2 cards. |
