I'm having problems with my board recognizing all the memory modules in the BIOS. Here's what I got:
Asrock X99X Killer 3.1 on P3.20 BIOS I7-6850K 4Gx4 G-Skill DDR4-3200 (PC4-25600) I know the RAM isn't supported on the Asrock website but it states is should run at 3200Mhz so that's what I'm trying to achieve. When I boot into the BIOS it only recognizes slots C1 and D1, A1 and B1 are not. When I go into the browsers portion of the BIOS it show all slots are filled; CPU-z also recognizes this, but the first page in the BIOS does not which gives me a total of 8G at 3200 instead of 16G. I've already done the swapping of the RAM so I know they aren't dead sticks. I can get all 4 to be recognized at 2333Mhz when I dumb it down to that freq. Has anyone had any success getting theirs to recognize all 4 slots at 3200?

On X99 boards, if the memory speed is too high, or the memory is not configured correctly in the UEFI, all of the memory will not be recognized in Windows. I has this situation myself with my X99 board. I also can see all the memory using CPU-Z, and when I set the memory speed lower, all of is recognized in Windows. What is the full model number of your G.SKILL memory? Are you using the XMP profile in the UEFI? Depending on the specific memory model, the XMP profile does not always work correctly. If your memory was designed for use with Skylake processors and Intel 100 series chipset boards (Z170, etc), some of the XMP settings can be very different than those needed for X99. Or you may have simply reached the limit of the memory OC capability of the memory controller in your CPU. With your memory speed set to 3200, does that also change the BCLK from 100 to 125MHz? Things you can try, individually or together: First, clear the UEFI/BIOS, but save your UEFI settings in a profile before the clear. Increase the DRAM voltage. You should be at least at 1.35V. Be sure to check what the actual DRAM voltage is in H/W Monitor screen in the UEFI, compared to the DRAM voltage setting in the UEFI. The two can be different, the actual value is usually more than the setting. Try up to 1.4V if you are comfortable with that. In the UEFI, set all of the memory latency options to Auto. That will result in some high actual values, but you want to see if you can get all your memory recognized first. At the bottom of the DRAM Configuration screen, find the MRC Fast Boot option, and set it to Disabled. Set the Memory Test option to Enabled, and the Memory Power Savings Mode to Disabled. The first two options set as described will cause memory "training" to occur during POST, whenever the PC starts/restarts. That will slow down the POST process, so your overall "boot" time will be slower, that is normal with these settings. This allows the memory to work better with the memory controller. Have you tried any other memory speeds besides 3200 and 2133? Such as, 2666 or 3000? If you can't get 3200 easily, 3000 or a bit less may work. Adjusting the VCCIO and VCCSA voltages may be necessary for high speed DDR4 memory. The problem doing this is, most ASRock X99 boards don't display the values of those voltages in the UEFI, and we can only set an offset, not the voltage itself. Also, a higher voltage for either is not automatically better, there tends to be optimal values for your processor's memory controller. (Nice forum name, BTW... ![]() ![]() |

Thanks for the reply. I got the G-Skill RAM for the Z170 platform which is why it's only detecting duel channels, not quad. I can't believe I did that! I thought I ordered the X99 quad channel! I re-ordered the X99 sticks. I'll let you know what happens with the new ram. I'll just have to run dual channel at 3200 til the new stuff gets here.

Yeah, so I don't know what's up with this board. I'm not knocking Asrock, I like Arock's products. I just happen to have gotten a bad board. I bought two packs of RAM and this board just doesn't want to work and it's been doing the strangest things. I'm returning it and purchased the Fatal1ty X99 Professional Gaming i7 instead.

Update: I just got my new rig put together. The Asrock Fatal1ty X99 Professional Gaming i7 is an awesome board! Much better than the X99X Killer, IMO. Boots up and runs 3200Mhz right off the bat. I'll be doing some stability tests to see how it holds up. This is the way a mobo should work! Kind of glad I got a bad board in the beginning, I like this board much better. I thought maybe there was some kind of difference in the way the CPU recognizes G-Skill RAM for the Z170 platform I got initially, this board boots it up and runs like champ. I'll be sending the Corsairs back.
