Hi everyone, I just bought a Masterliquid pro 240. This is the first time I buy a cooler so I have absolutely no experience how to plug it in properly. Someone on the Cooler Master forums told me that I should plug the Pump into System Fan 1 or Chassis_Fan 1 meanwhile the fans should be plugged into Cpu Fan Header.
However, as you can see in the pic below, the CHA_Fan 1 is located too far away from the Pump. Can I plug the pump into CHA_Fan 2 instead guys? Thanks! On your board, the Z170 Extreme7+, which I also have, the names of the fan headers really don't have any particular significance regarding the operation of fans or other devices connected to them.
All of the fan headers, including the Chassis fan headers, can be configured in the UEFI/BIOS to operate in the same way as the CPU Fan headers. You can configure the Chassis fan headers to monitor the CPU temperature, and change their speed along with the CPU temperature. There is no difference in operation between any of the Chassis fan headers, so you can connect the pump to any of the Chassis fan headers, including CHA_FAN2. If you really felt it would make a difference, you could purchase a four pin fan extension cable, and connect the pump to the CHA_FAN1 header. |
