Hi all,

I've got an X79 extreme 11 mobo on which i've been trying to flash the BIOS (2.80) for a while  (year or 2) and had given up on it after all attempts failed, instant and internet flash.

I stumbled across something recently that said the UEFI won't do an internet flash below 2.90 as the asrock download servers changed, and the new address is in BIOS version 2.90 onwards.

Anyway, been trying to flash again using USB, HDD etc but cannot get it to flash.  It taunts me by showing me the file /X79E11_3.30 in instant flash but then either hangs on that screen or displays /perflogs instead...then hangs

I've tried multiple USB sticks and HDD partitions formatted to FAT or FAT32, all USB ports on the mobo and the above is the best i can manage.

This has now become a matter of pride and refusing to let the computer get one over on me.  Has anyone else had this issue or similar with their boards and can give any pointers?

Have finally managed to solve the problem.

Had to unplug the power leads for all of my hard drives so that the BIOS flash utility could only see the USB stick with the upgrade file on it (using the the two USB ports next to the PS2 port).

As soon as i did that the BIOS upograded with no problems and the UEFI internet flash is now working correctly for future use.

I guess the flash utility was picking up something on one of my drives, even though the manual says it can only use FAT or FAT32 (not NTFS) so although it was seeing the upgrade file it was then finding something else it seemed to like better then froze.

Hope this helps somebody else in the future

I only had the one USB plugged in with the BIOS file at any time.  It was the HDD's that were causing the problem, even though they are all NTFS

I had tried a small  FAT32 partition on one of the HDD's but didn't work either since that meant there was an HDD plugged in.

No HDD's and the one USB with the BIOS file and it worked.

Can't believe it took me about 2 years to have that eureka moment!!! Ermm
