Hi.

First of all, system specs:

ASRock P4VM8 (2005)
RAM: 2GB (DDR, 1x 133MHz -Slot 1-, 1x 166MHz -Slot 2-)
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.00GHz, 2 threads.
Sysytem: Microsoft Windows XP 32-bit Service Pack 3 [ES-VE] (With .NET framework 4.0 and the rest of important software, but that's not important here.)

I want to install this GPU GeForce 6200 LE, but when I install it and turn the PC on, there is no video and I hear a group of short and quick beeps, then it looks like it keeps running, booting the OS but there is no video.

I already cleared the CMOS by the jumper setting, and I'm sure it's not a port failure as I'm using a FX5200 128MB at the moment and it runs fine.

So the question is: Is this motherboard compatible with this GPU?
Could the RAM be the issue?
If I install DDR400 RAM would it work?

Here's a pic of the GPU, I should've included that before.

Nvidia GeForce 6200 LE XFX

I would think so, yet VIA chipsets were notoriously finicky.

Your board has an AGP 8X/4X 1.5V slot.

The 6200 LE seems to have both PCIe x16, and AGP 8X models. We assume you have the AGP 8X model? If it is a PCIe (PCI Express) model, it won't work in your board.

Your FX 5200 is an AGP 8X card.

There are multiple types of AGP, with different voltages.

The memory speed should not make any difference. The amount of memory is more likely to help, although I'm NOT saying that will fix your problem.

If you could count the number of short beeps you get, that might give us a clue about what the problem is, but that does not guarantee at all we can fix the problem.

Do you know that the 6200 LE card even works?

"Do you know that the 6200 LE card even works?" Now that is a good question.

Well, just in case, I left the card on a friend's home so he will try to find another AGP motherboard to test the card on. Tomorrow I'll go there to see what's cooking.

And yes, the card is AGP8X, 512MB. I still don't know what voltage it uses, either 1.5V or whatever; the motherboard says I shouldn't use a 3.3V card 'cause it will cause damage to the motherboard, I suppose it doesn't uses a high voltage as it don't even have a fan cooler.

So I went to my friend's home and he told me he tested it and he had no video from it.

I managed to make it work on my PC by entering the bios, and changing AGP aperture from 64 to 256MB, but it shows artifacts and gives BSOD once under windows.

So I conclude: The GPU is broken.
