Hello
My new Asrock Z170 Extreme 4 (running Uefi ver. 7.00) does not seem to initialize the EVGA Geforce 1050ti correctly. During boot I can not see any messages and not go to Uefi because I have no monitor signal (connected via HDMI). As soon as the OS is loaded and the gfx driver are loaded I get a signal. If I replace the 1050ti with my GTX570 I have no problems at all. I can see the boot messages and go to the Uefi. Signal is there from the moment I power up the PC. I tried clearing CMOS multiple times, without success. With the 1050ti I get not signal at boot. Pluging the HDMI cable into the onboard GPU (6700k) does not work also, as in the Uefi there is no "Auto" setting for the Display. You can only choose "Onboard" or "PCI express". To reach the Uefi I have to remove the 1050ti and use the onboard GPU. This is no good solution. At first I thought the 1050ti was faulty. I returned the unit and got a new one. Still no signal, so my only guess is that the motherboard have some problems with the 1050ti. Is there anything I can do? Any chance for a updated Uefi version for this motherboard? Thanks for any ideas. Edited by wbb1977 - 09 Jan 2017 at 4:54am |

Make sure "share memory" is set to Auto in the UEFI and "multi display" is set to disabled.
It sounds like the GPU have set the default output to a port other than the one you are using. If possible try other display outputs from the GPU.

You can always try an earlier UEFI/BIOS version. The 7.xx versions add support for Kaby Lake processors, and since doubt you are using one now, try the 3.40 UEFI version, for example. If there is a problem with the 7.00 UEFI (which it might be, I can't say it isn't yet), you are the first person to post a problem with the 1050ti card. That is a very new card, just released, correct? Sometimes the problem you described, no video during POST or in the UEFI/BIOS UI, is caused by using a television as a monitor. I'm curious if you do, you did not mention any model of monitor. |

Just came home from work and tried everything. Thank you for the hints and your efforts.
@Xaltar I checked the settings and "Share Memory" was on "Auto" and Multi Display was on "Disabled". Unfortunately, I can only use HDMI as I use my TV as a monitor (Sony Bravia W905A). I have no other cable/output device at hand at all, but it makes some sense that the gfx card defaults to another port. Maybe the old GTX570 did check which output port is connected and the new one does not (oh no). @parsec Yes, it is a relative recent card (Oct/Nov 2016). Thanks for the background info. Not using Kaby Lake, I downgraded to Uefi version 3.40. Made sure that the settings mentioned by Xaltar are still set to the correct value. Put the the card back in and sadly still no signal during boot. As mentioned above I use the Sony Bravia W905A as my monitor. TV worked great so far, no matter what signal it got so far, but of course I can not rule out that at startup the 1050ti does not like the Sony. |

Ok, I try that on the weekend.
My memory is: 16GB G.Skill RipJaws VGB DDR4-3200 (2x8GB) P/N I am not sure what you mean. |

I tried with another TV set on the weekend and everything worked like a dream. So the board and gfx card are ok. I contacted EVGA support and they think the handshake between my TV and the card goes wrong for some reason. Bad luck.
Thanks for any help and the suggestions. ![]() Just to let you know and to close this thread. ![]() |

Thanks for the update. As I said, a television does not always work well as a PC monitor, we see this type of issue occasionally. We keep threads like this around for others to read and learn from, it may help someone else someday. |
