Hi guys!
So... . I want to build a compact server for the learning purposes. It suppose to run VMware ESXi Hypervisor and many different VMs: for CISCO CCIE, CITRIX, WIN Server, EXCHANGE, Linux, etc... So I think, that it has to have 6 Core CPU, 64GB Ram and I suppose.. 1...2TB SSD. My budget is a but tough and because of that I decided to go to Core i7 6800K 6 Core, but not XEON CPUs. I know that the XEON "were born" for server appliances, but they are pricey and I'd like to have a Core i7 at the moment. The good XEON itself costs around 600$ + ECC RAM... Has anybody tested the board with the Core i7 CPU + 2x32Gb normal, NON-ECC sticks ? I know that there are always recommended (official) and possible (unofficial) configurations. I had a pair Mac Mini Serves with Core i7, that officially support only 2x4Gb Ram, but UNofficially work just perfect with 2x8Gb. Please share any experience, if you have some... Thx! |
