That's a rather newly release BIOS to expect it to be received with.
And in just looking at some review pics it it appears as a simple BIOS chip swap is out of the equation as it looks soldered instead. Hold tight and I'll draw the Other Mods here to reply with certainty. |

I would have to say no. If you plan on getting a DeskMini I would strongly recommend you purchase one from a physical store that can flash the BIOS for you. As Wardog said, the DeskMini uses a soldered BIOS ROM so swapping out the BIOS chip is not an option.

I can confirm that my early production DeskMini 110W has a soldered BIOS chip, I own one. All new ASRock boards no longer have BIOS chips in sockets, the chip manufactures no longer produce the older, socketed DIP type chips. The manufactures have all gone to surface mount chips of that type.
The 1.50 BIOS version is dated 9/23/2016, so you might get lucky that later production versions are available at retailers. The BIOS chip has a sticker on it that identifies the BIOS version from the factory. You must be able to check the board to determine the shipped BIOS version. Really terrible timing for all of this to come together... multiple processor updates from Intel that require CPU microcode updates that are part of the BIOS file, and no way to change the BIOS chips anymore. A compatible Intel processor in the board to allow the BIOS update is the only method of updating to a new BIOS version. This will apply to all mother board manufactures, it's not just an ASRock situation. |
