The ASRock X99 Professional Gaming i7 is a new model released at the same time as the Intel Broadwell-E HEDT processors were released. It has NVMe support out of the box, no need for a UEFI/BIOS update for NVMe support. Check the Specifications, in the Storage section: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20X99%20Professional%20Gaming%20i7/index.asp#Specification Are you having a problem with a 960 Pro and this board? If the problem is it seems that the SSD is not recognized in the Storage Configuration screen, that is normal for an NVMe SSD on an X99 system. Check the System Browser feature in the Tools screen, in the M.2 slot. That is one of the places you'll find it shown in the UEFI/BIOS. Your board might have an NVMe Configuration screen in the Advanced section. The M.2 slots on X99 boards are connected to the CPU's PCIe lanes, and the Storage Configuration screen gets its information from the X99 chipset. Two different interfaces. Plus NVMe support is an after the fact addition to the X99 platform, so it won't be perfect in every way. You certainly can use any NVMe SSD as the OS drive on an X99 board that has NVMe support in the UEFI/BIOS. I use an Intel 750 NVMe SSD as the OS drive in my ASRock X99 Extreme6/3.1 board, with the UEFI/BIOS update it needed. It will be shown in the Boot Order once you install Windows in UEFI mode, have you ever done that before? What version of Windows are you using? Edited by parsec - 06 Mar 2017 at 9:20am |
