Hi everyone.
I'm a new forum user and I'm looking for some support to solve my pc problems.

My system worked well for 4 years with these specs

i5 3570k + corsair h80i
z77 pro3 (bios ver. 2.10)
2x4gb g.skill sniper 1866mhz cl10 1.5v
2x4gb g.skill sniper 1600mhz cl9 1.25v
vga gtx 1070 g1 (from december 2016)
ssd samsung  840 basic
hdd1 wd 500gb
hdd2 samsung 500gb
enermax modu87+gold 600w
os windows 7 pro x64

Cpu was under a daily and stable OC @4500mhz with 1.2vcore
ram kits (4x4gb) works well together @1866mhz 1.5v cl10-10-10-26 2T

Some weeks ago I've purchased a used i7 3770k to power up a little my system
This i7 works perfectly on the seller's pc with any problems.

So i've set the bios at default values and replaced my i5 with this i7,replaced thermal grease, reinstalled the h80i and start the pc.
It seemed to work all right,i managed to get into the os and i leave it run for some hours.

But from here the problems begin.
After reboot the pc i got black screen,no video signal,no bios,no os.

I decided to perform a clear cmos with any success,pc won't boot.
I removed all the ram sticks and tried to boot with one by one but no luck,no boot.
I removed the battery for some hours and reboot with no luck,no boot,no buzzer beeps,no video signal.
After trying and trying i was able to boot into bios with one ram stick but some bios settings like some overclock option fields or choosing the integrated gpu, won't work.

So i tried to reflash the bios with usb instant flash (same bios vers. 2.10,used a 8gb fat32 usb 2.0 pendrive)
After bios succesfully flashed i can enter the os,so i turned off and try to install the other ram but no way out.
With the same pair of ram pc boot and i can enter the os but with one or two sticks of the other kit i got no boot and 3 buzzer beeps.

I removed the 2nd ram pair and pc can boot so i entered the bios set the default settings and retry, but there were no more XMP profile options,i can't increase cpu multiplier over x39 (manually inserting a number over x39 turns down to x39),or choosing the integrate gpu over the pciexpress one.

I tried to manually set ram settings at 1600mhz (max value possible to select),
set latencies options at 10-10-10-26 2T,save and reboot ok.
I tried to reinstall the 2nd ram kit and pc can turn on and boot into bios but same issues on the overclock options (max  x39 multiplier),no igpu.
The bios system browser showed 4 sticks of ram installed (16gb) but in the other bios options the usable are just 8gb (changing the slots position, same result,16gb installed but only 8gb are working).

So my can works but:
cpu can run at max 3900mhz with any other overclock value working
16gb ddr3 are installed but 8gb only are working  (cpu-z too show 16gb but i do not kwow why 8gb only are usable)
ram can run at max 1600mhz ,no way out to set xmp profiles or manually set them over 1600mhz

Searching in the internet i found a lot of z77 users with similar problems due to cpu or bios upgrade and the solving thing it's to change the bios chip.

So i purchased a brand new z77 pro3 bios chip from Germany flashed with bios  2.10
I replaced the old chip with the brand new, performed a clear cmos and reboot but nothing change,i've had to try a lot of times to set the pc to start and work but with the same issues as up.

Now i don't know other things to do to make my pc works well,I hope someone of you could help me to solve all issues.

Thanks

Consider the 3770K's memory controller doesn't like that you're running two different memory kits.

Too, it could be the used 3770K is somehow defective. I'm just putting this out there. as buying a used processor is sometimes dicey and I haven't a clue where or who you bought it from.

Regardless, I'd take the processor to a computer shop and have them test it. Bring your two memory kits along when you do.

Keep us posted.

It might even be a socket pin got shifted too during its installation.

Since you changed your CPU, and are using the same Windows 7 installation, installing the two basic Intel driver and software files again might help you with your over clocking problem.

That would be the INF driver ver:9.3.0.1019 and Intel Management Engine driver ver:8.1.2.1318 installation packages on your board's Windows 7 download page:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77%20Pro3/?cat=Download&os=Win764

You were lucky that the two different memory kits worked together with your other processor. While they were the same model of memory (at different maximum speed and voltage specs), they may not have the same memory chips in each kit. G.SKILL does not make their own memory chips, and buys them from various sources. Over time, the same model of memory might change the memory chips they use.

Sometimes it helps to put one kit of memory is one memory channel, and the other kit in the other memory channel, A and B. Mixing the two different kits in the same channel is more difficult for the memory controller on the CPU.

Are you sure that both kits of memory have XMP profiles? The 1600 kit might not have an XMP profile, since your processor supports 1600 speed memory, and 1600 is not a memory over clock. The 1866 speed kit is a memory over clock, so it makes sense for that kit to have an XMP profile.

Hello everyone and sorry if I answered late.

Then I tried all possible solutions including replace the i7 with the 3570k,reinstall the ime end inf drivers, flash and reflash a lot of times etc. etc. but nothing has changed.

So I decided to buy a CH341A chip programmer from Am....n for about 10 euros and following this tutorial on yt, I have performed a complete bios erasure and reprogramming with .rom version 2.10

Now with the bios chip fully reprogrammed the system works perfectly and all bios options and settings return to work and i can run my 3770K@4.5ghz.

What I do not understand is why even the new chip that was supposed to run smoothly, it was affected by the same problems, so I'm thinking that this bug may have originated not from the bios, but from the OS

Now I was able to solve thanks to the chip programmer and I have two full-reflashed bios with the same .rom 2.10 and if all those problems occurs again I can solve by just replacing the bios1 with the bios2.
