i dont know about broadwell-e but for kaby it will reduce the core clock when avx instructions are executed. so for example you can dial in a 5ghz oc with a 3 avx offset reducing the clock to 4.7 when avx is encountered. this allows for better OCs due to the fact that avx causes insane temps as well as instability. ive heard that some z170 boards have it for kaby but i dont see it in my bios so i thought it might be called something else by asrock. hopefully my board will get another bios update for kaby since asrock hasnt released a single one since kaby has been on the market. at least not for my board. |

I can't tell you from personal experience, my i7-7700K is in a Z270 board. Kind of an odd option for Skylake and Kabylake IMO. First used in X99 boards for Broadwell-E HEDT processors, that have a much lower cache speed than the core speeds. All it did for Broadwell-E is reduce the cache multiplier when AVX instructions were executed. |
