An SM961 is no different than any other M.2 NVMe SSD. As long as a board's UEFI/BIOS has NVMe support (the X370 Taichi does) it can be used as the OS drive. Just be sure to use the M2_1 slot, since it has the full PCIe 3.0 x4 interface needed for full performance. If you planned on using an M.2 to PCIe slot adapter card for an M.2 NVMe SSD, it won't be shown in the Storage Configuration screen. So far the ASRock Ryzen board's UEFI/BIOS do not have the System Browser tool available in the UEFI. That would be needed to verify the NVMe SSD was recognized, although it would appear in the boot order. If you plan on using Windows 7, it does not have a built in NVMe driver, and one must be installed during the Windows installation. Windows 8.1 and 10 have an NVMe driver. You'll also need to do a UEFI booting Windows installation with an NVMe SSD. What SATA SSD problems are you having? |

The string doesn't show up in the posting section but for some reason my "enable right click extension"posts that.
