I'm taking the memory back today. i've ordered F4-3200C15D-16GTZKW.
Thank you all for helping me through this. It sure sucks to have a stuck PC build even after all the time spent researching. :) Your help is greatly appreciated!

ok so ive got some time spare (the wife disagrees but hey lets ignore her)
digging around this guy has got corsair ram running at 2666 http://www.gpforums.co.nz/threads/517857-ASROCK-AB350-pro4-RYZEN this guy got tridentz running at 2993 https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/63tfzw/ram_selection_for_asrock_ab350_pro4/ this guy uses pny 2400 oc to 2666 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji9hl91JC6A (13.30 mins into video) and heres his bios settings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYMRYAFnnKk (edited with extra links ) heres some more corsair at 2993 http://valid.x86.fr/06eluw corsair at 2666 http://valid.x86.fr/tbscv4 to be fair there is not a lot of posting/videos to be found about the actual end users and the pro4 which is a shame as this board was (past tense 'was' now isnt) on the shortlist at the top for a build i was pricing up for a friend the colour was good the power supply side looked good alas the lack of advanced bios and ram selection has crossed it of the list for the sub £100 board options anyways i hope this helps you try and get something better for your ram it would seem as i concluded last night there simply is NO firm ram recommendation anyone can say about this board other than using the qvl suggestions and hoping they actually will work at that speed Edited by datonyb - 21 Apr 2017 at 9:42pm |

"... without getting into platform issues...", sorry I cannot ignore reality. As long as you are aware they exist, particularly with Ryzen memory compatibility, I'll mention as few as possible. Are you asking in general why you are experiencing freezes, and how to diagnose it? Or do you believe it is memory related? QVL Listed: F4-3000C15Q-16GRR. That's a Ripjaws 4 model: http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-3000c15q-16grr Used: F4-3000C15D-16GVKB. That's a Ripjaws 5 model: http://gskill.com/en/product/f4-3200c16d-16gvkb The Q and the D are not of significance here. That they are different models is. The Ripjaws 4 model is a quad channel kit designed for Intel X99 boards and HEDT processors that support four channels of memory. No requirement to use four DIMMs. It is coincidence and luck that the F4-3000C15Q-16GRR model apparently works with Ryzen, but to what degree (speed) I don't know. The F4-3000C15D-16GVKB Ripjaws 5 model is designed for Intel Z170 and Z270 systems. Also, the Ryzen processor's memory controller's memory dividers do not support a DDR4 memory speed of 3000 according to AMD. The closest supported speed is 2933, which should be used with 3000 speed memory, as is noted in the QVL list. The XMP profiles with any DDR4 memory designed for Intel systems, as the two models above are, won't work with Ryzen. Setting the timings, speed, and DRAM voltage manually is the correct method. The best description about using DDR4 memory not designed for a Ryzen system that I've read is this: "... it's a crap-shoot." I agree, given what I have read about one pre-Ryzen DDR4 model working with Ryzen, and other pre-Ryzen models not working with Ryzen. We've seen examples of the "same model" of memory that have different memory chips in them, some Samsung, some Hynix. As a moderator, I should tell users what will work, which is why I go with the board's QVL list, or what models are recommended by the memory manufacture. G.SKILL suggests the models on this page for your board (sorry for the text link, some URLs fail with the forum's link tool): http://www.gskill.com/en/configurator?manu=52&chip=2952&model=2990 I've been told I'm wrong to say memory models not included in either list should be avoided, because some people on the Internet have gotten them to work with their Ryzen system. The problem is, other users cannot get the same memory model to work. I can't take that chance with their money and time. Are you installing all the basic drivers for your board yourself? Such as from the board's disk, or by downloading drivers from your board's Download page? Windows 10 update will install drivers automatically at any time, video drivers being a good example of that. My video driver was randomly updated while I was writing a forum post. My dual monitor setup suddenly began going dark on both monitors, and only one came back on. The default video driver and Windows Display settings were reset. A video driver installation done by a user always ends with a request to restart the PC. That did not happen when Windows installed a video driver, although it was still needed. I realized what happened and restarted the PC, but who knows what other Windows driver installations will do? |

It could be that your freezing issue is related to your SDD or harddrrive. What are you using? When the freeze occurs, does it simply freeze the entire screen? How long have you waited for the PC to recover before restarting it?
Regarding your RAM, I can't get my RAM over 2400 (different CPU and motherboard). I'm using the G.Skill Trident Z F4-3200C16D-16GTZ kit. To even get it to boot at 2400 I have to manually set the configuration to 2400 and 15/15/15/15/36 in the BIOS in OC Tweaker, maybe try this and see if you can at least get to 2400. I've left the DRAM voltage at Auto for these settings. Forgot to say, don't use the XMP profile either. Edited by TooQik - 21 Apr 2017 at 8:15am |

well ive sat here for 5 mins looking at your links, the rest of stock at ncix and the qvl for your board
im a bit stumped for the foillowing reasons 1) ncix has realy really bad stock the rgb gskills are not even in stock (did i mention very poor choice of stock?) and 2) the qvl for the 350 pro4 ....is very very limited so ive spent another 5 mins seeing if 3000 mhz ram would help once again ncix have the worse case of an empty shop ive ever seen ! i was even looking at the corsairs.nothing in stock matches the qvl the chances of changing the ram you have at the moment and getting an improvement by even educated guess seems ......very slim so what are the options ? going forward its not any good news im afraid for immediate improvement the tridentz rgb should and i mean most probably be samsung single sided but i cannot find positive proof tonight (its 1140pm here) at 3200 speed and 16 timing BUT two big but's the pro4 has an extremely scarce support for 3200 ram on the qvl the pro4 has very few decent speeds entries on rymem.wraith website (indicating that its not a very good baord at the moment to get any luck with speeds) and ripjaws dont seem to have many models that do have the samsung b dies for sure to sum up i really dont think i can suggest with any faith what very limited ram to try from the options i know this is the internet and people can say what they want ,but im an old guy and know we all value our money so i really cant advise you to throw money or time even changing ram with such limited knowledge of which ones may improve your situation i can say with quite a high conviction i think 3200 isnt an option from ncix for your board at the moment so choice is as far as i can tell stick with the ram you have (and hope the new bios release in may will address the am4/ryzen ram issues) or option B send back the ram and buy the cheapest 2133 ram they have to replace it that is on the QVL and then wait until may and see what the new bios allows and buy the faster 3200+ ram then i know this is probably not the answer you want ,but its what i see as the options tonight i will have a look around tomorrow and see if anyone else has got other ram working on this board if you want and send you the links |

Sorry to do this to you, but i have to order from NCIX.com as i know they won't refund the memory i currently have. The ones you mention are only available in 32 gigs and i only desire 16. Would you mind providing a suggestion for me if you deem the RGB ones (F4-3200C16D) not wise, even though i don't care about the RGB function. My intention is to have a system that boots, is stable, and will eventually clock memory to 3000 or more. It seems this is sort of my price range <$240. for 3200 and 16gb with G.skill i see these as options. i have read a lot about gskill kits and the success and lack of with ryzen i know ripjaws are not the luckiest kit to use at the moment due to immature bios i know ASIDE from qvl lists the tridentz do seem to fair better i also would like to point out that there are many complaints from ryzen builders about the gskill rgb kits failing after a short time i myself have drawn the conclusion that I WOULDNT try to use an rgb kit (also with a founding that i dont have a windowed case anyway so its a waste of money) after my reseach before buying my parts i decided from what i have read to try the gskill 3200 c15d-16gtz kit this has worked from day one in my taichi but i would have also bought the f4 3200c14d-16 gtz kit if it were not £50 more expensive ,but at the time of writing there is another forum member here who has that kit and cannot get it to work at anything but 2133...........it really makes no sense as it seems to be exactly the same parts on the sticks but with better binned ic's (eg more perfect) yet they wont work on the same board as mine if you want some sort of garrentee the only option is to buy gskill flareX yet i know two ryzen users that cant get them to 3200 either so to answer your question the only part i can stand by as a firm recommendation is to NOT buy the tridentz rgb you linked this is my opinion due to a higher chance of an issue than other choices heres a link to actual owners with actual rams-motherboard combos saying what they made work http://rymem.vraith.com/ you can search by your board to see what other peple fitted |

Pinscher, again, I would determine the version of the AGESA you are running. It should be available in your BIOS and via AIDA64. You can also open the ROM file with a hex editor and search for AGESA. There are several, but only one will be followed with the version, thus:
I have always found the version in the last AGESA in the ROM file. Enjoy, John. |
