Hi people,
I have an issue with getting: "Driver Disk Preparer v1.08 - ASRock Incorporation, all rights reserved Model Name: Z270 Killer SLI This model is not supported!" When trying to boot. I'm attempting to use the CD that came with the motherboard, to install Windows, as it seems like it comes with Windows 8.1 x64 Google isn't really revealing any solutions, despite a number of other similar errors encountered. This is what my BIOS screen looks like: http://imgur.com/a/dLc8k I can't seem to get past this, to actually set up my brand new PC... Any help would be great, so thanks in advance!

The CD that comes with your board is NOT a Windows 8.1 installation disk, or any other version of Windows. I have never seen a Windows installation disk included with any mother board. A Windows installation disk costs almost as much as your board does. A Windows 10 64bit installation disk is now $110. Why did you think that CD is a Windows 8.1 disk? You will need to buy a Windows installation disk yourself. Mother boards do not include Windows installation disks. The Support CD, that is included with your board, contains these things, as listed in the Specifications: Drivers, Utilities, AntiVirus Software (Trial Version), Google Chrome Browser and Toolbar http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z270%20Killer%20SLI/index.asp#Specification You could use that disk after you install Windows, to install the necessary drivers and optional software. |

Thanks for the reply - I'm going to try using a different CD with Windows 10 and install everything like I normally do. I only went ahead with trying to use the mobo CD since it -appears- the mobo comes with Windows. Scroll down to Technical Details and you'll see "Software included - Windows 8.1" I've never seen a mobo come with Windows but I thought maybe ASRock and MS did something together.

That is an Amazon blunder. You should contact them about it, false advertising.

That is terrible! I see that the details still say Win 8.1 included in the Technical Details section. That has nothing to do with ASRock. Is it Amazon or that Buyur source that is responsible for this mistake? You should contact both Buyur and Amazon and ask for your Windows 8.1 64bit disk, which is clearly listed. I'm sorry you were surprised by this, which I must wonder about, since this retailer seems to be a large operation. I wonder how long that web page has been like that? |
