Hi Forum,
I have built an AMD system for my mother around the 970M Pro3 mobo. She wants to use it for office, internet and video editing (Magix). It generally runs very good, but there are sometimes problems with USB devices. The problem: When a USB device is connected, the system sometimes immediately freezes without showing an error. No further action is possible. You have to push the reset button to boot up the system again. It happens regularly but not every time. I have not yet figured out a pattern, it seems to be random. Both USB2 and USB3 are affected and it happens with different USB devices (smartphone, USB hard drive, etc.). IMPORTANT NOTE: If the device is already connected before booting the PC, there never is a problem. It works 100%. Only putting in the device with running OS gives problems as described. That leads me to think it is not hardware related. My guess is a driver problem or wrong windows setting. My question: - How can I try to find out what the problem is? Maybe there is some kind of crash report that windows saves or a log file? I need to pinpoint the problem somehow. OS: Windows 10 Home 64 bit (latest creators update installed) HW: - ASRock 970M Pro3 - AMD FX Series 8320E 8x 3.20GHz - 16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3-1600 DIMM CL9 Dual Kit - 500 Watt LEPA MX-F1 Non-Modular Power Supply - 128GB Patriot Spark 2.5" (6.4cm) SATA 6Gb/s SSD - another HDD for data storage (don't know the type right now) - GeForce GTX 560 Ti More info: - BIOS is latest version 1.60 and settings are default - mobo drivers seem to be installed correctly, there are no obvious faults in windows hardware manager Any help is much appreciated! Thank you. Nils |

First, thanks for your reply!
The BIOS settings are default. I would be VERY surprised if USB controllers were disabled by default. Moreover, the USB ports are working *generally*. The freeze does not happen all the time and never, if the device is plugged in before starting the PC. Can you (or anyone else) give more advice? Thanks! |

A similar situation. The system hangs tightly, turning off the backlight devices
