Z270 Extreme4 Installation

The RGB lighting is simply LEDs and a controller to change their color and pattern of display.

RGB lighting is in no way related to any of the functioning of the hardware of the board. It does not indicate anything wrong or right about the mother board or the PC. It is purely for show and lighting effects. The only actual purpose it has is to act as an indicator that power has been applied to the board in it's standby state, and that is really only a side effect of being turned on by default, and can be turned off.

What you saw is normal, the RGB lighting by default is active as soon as power is applied to the mother board. It may be set by default to cycle through the various effects possible, the Random display. It is not telling you there is a problem with anything in the mother board or PC, so don't worry about it. The flashing LEDs mean absolutely nothing.

If your memory or other hardware has RGB lighting that is controlled by software, as the RGB lighting on your board is, it is possible that the different controlling programs can conflict with each other, and result in the software not working correctly. All that does is make controlling the RGB lighting more difficult.
