Dear wayne04112,

Greetings, this is ASRock TSD.

About your question, we provide some suggestions to verify:

1. Please enter the BIOS setup then press [F9] to load BIOS default setting to try.

2. Check Onboard HD Audio is set at [Auto]
Path: BIOS > Advanced > Onboard HD Audio

3. Please make sure the audio driver has been uninstalled through control panel, and then refer below link to download Realtek high definition audio driver ver:8004 for trying again.

4. Connect the audio device to the front panel and rear panel to check.

5. Use another speaker or headphone to try in the rear panel and front panel.

6. If possible, please install another front panel audio device on HD_Audio1 header to try.

7. If possible, please try another HDD with clean OS.

Thanks!

All the best,
ASRock TSD

as a suggestion have you looked for option in bios for front panel audio
options should be HD/AC97  (if you have that in bios ) it is there on the taichi
it might need switching to ac97

also in windows the realtek software has options to switch the source for headphones etc
i recall i had to look in there and alter which connections it thought (windows thought) it was connected too

(i discovered this when teamspeak wasnt picking up any mic input)

The case is the thing we really need to know based on your issue, we need to know if it's front panel connection is non standard Wink

Please list your full system specs including case make and model.

If at all possible can you also provide a pic of the front panel cable connected to the board so we can see if it is perhaps the wrong pinout etc. The connector should just work, there should be no need to mess with the UEFI (BIOS) to make it function. Either the cable on your case is incompatible somehow or it is incorrectly connected. The odds of it being a board issue are very slim if the sound from the rear IO is working.

It should hopefully be a simple fix Wink

I've bought your motherboard last week, everything works fine except for the audio front panel.
It doesn't work at all.
I installed the latest Realtek HD Audio Drivers, double checked connection between the motherboard and the case front panel and nothing worked.
I guess it may relate to BIOS itself, poor BIOS settings or drivers?
What can I do to fix it?
