X79 Boards are very uncomplicated with RAM, i use Corsair oder Crucial Value RAM up to 64GB...
But better buy some Modules without Heatspreader, even an max OC Module consume far below 5W and can operate safely up to 90°C so no need for such nonsense. Some test shows that Most Heatspreader are more a type of Heat Isulation the Chips get hotter then without... Even more, if the Heatspreader ist glued on the chips (as usual) the different thermal expansion betwen aluminum Heatspreader and circuit Board can produce micro cracks in the BGA solder points after a few years. Such nasty things produce Bit Error at a small thermal Window... I have a Drawer half full of such modules (DDR1-DDR3) from the neighborhood, some are replaced 1-2 times in the Lifetime warranty but then get exchanged for some Value RAM at the next failure.. |
