    Posted: 10 Sep 2017 at 9:05pm
hi everyone,

i'm currently on bios version P2.80 with 2 x 8GB  Gskill F3-1866C10-8GSR ram sticks.

memtest reads and tested both sticks - 4 passes no errors
when typing FREE cmd displays total 8071452
unraid server recognizes the 16gb installed, but it's only allocating only 8gb.

that's my problem...

- is this an issue with version p2.80 of the bios. should i downgrade to version p2.60 ? or upgrade to a new version as this has been detected by someone else?

- is this an issue with the gskill sticks perhaps not compatible with this mb.

hope someone can shed some light on this.
thx

Make SURE they are in the correct slots.

But, you have two Individually purchased sticks of mem vs a 16GB(2x8GB) matched Kit. Can I assume you just bought these two memory sticks?

thank you wardog.

no these are not new, we already on my server.

only changes were bios update and unraid limetech upgrade, but didnt noticed this until recently.
the old unraid dashboard didnt give this info, so i can't confirmed if this was happening before.

they set up matching A1 and B1 slots.
thx

Hi,
According the manual, if "you adopt DDR3 2000/1866/1800/1600 memory modules on this motherboard, it is recommended to install them on DDR3_A2 and DDR3_B2 slots" (white slot).

hi nightbird.
thanks for the reply.

i just did what you suggested, memory allocated still shows 7GB but both bios and unraid dashboard recognized the other 8gb stick installed in the second white slot.

i'm really not lucky, the only choice i think is left to do is to downgrade the bios.

hi sorry for the late reply.

yes i have tried one stick at a time and booting all four different slots and it boots normally.
we can see the memory in the motherboard bios setting and memtest no problem.

unraid recognized it installed 8GB and allocated 7gb
as soon as we add more memory, my unraid gui shows the installed memory going up, but the allocated stays at 7gb, it doesnt go up.

i'm guessing, this is not hardware but perhaps the bios update that was done that is causing this issue.

i'm not sure what else to do but to rollback the bios software to previous version, or can anyone help me with a setting i'm wrongfully doing?
thx
