You (AsRock) still haven't provided the BIOS update to fix this stability issue caused by Skylake/Kaby Lake hyperthreading. it's already been months since everyone started talking about it and other motherboard manufacturers provided the bios update.
You (AsRock) put "Stable and Reliable" text on the front of the motherboard box (AsRock H110M-ITX/ac). If you are so proud of your claims, any chance you would live up to them? I would have seriously returned this if I could. But since I'm gonna be using this for next 2 years, I decided to bring this to your attention. Apologies if I seem rude. |

I'm mainly concerned about other motherboards that do not have that update available.
I'm not gonna try flashing a z170's bios into a h110 board and risk bricking it. |

OMG, let's blame ASRock for problems with Intel Skylake and Kaby Lake processors, and only those that have Hyper-Threading. ![]() Your first sentence in this post is false, since there are many ASRock boards that have the UEFI/BIOS updates with the new processor microcode in it. Will you be fixing it? Apparently, ASRock has heard about it. Examples: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z170%20Extreme7+/?cat=Beta http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20Z270%20Gaming%20K6/index.asp#BIOS Please explain in detail the issues you are having with your unknown processor with Hyper-Threading that is making you so angry. I have three ASRock boards using Skylake and Kaby Lake processors, including a DeskMini 110 with the same board as yours. I'm not having any problems. Yes you seem rude. Apologies for saying that. I could defend any mother board manufacture in this situation, but clearly your mind is made up, so I won't waste my time. Yes, there are many ASRock 100 and 200 series chipset boards that have the new microcode. My Z170 and Z270 boards both have those updates. More updates will be coming soon. Note that ASRock classifies these UEFI/BIOS updates as Beta versions. Validation and verification of new processor microcode takes time and resources. If other manufactures just made it available quickly, I wonder how much testing they have done? |

I apologize.
In my first sentence, i was implying they haven't provided update for my specific board. I'm not blaming asrock for causing this issue. I'm blaming them for taking forever to provide an alpha/beta update for this specific board. I have a G4560. Debian dev suggested to turn off hyperthreading. But I can't. This thing relies in Hyper-threading to be useful. Without it, it's just a pentium. Right now I am not having any issues that I can say it's related to this. Or maybe I have and I think it's caused by something else. This is how intel describes the problem
I personally have no idea what programs do those short loops/whatever. I'm not a software developer/engineer. Those articles classify this issue as "major" so my mind won't rest until I'm sure this is fixed. Data loss would be devastating for me. I had a Gigabyte GA-H110M-A before buying this. I bought this AsRock board because I wanted to transition to Mini-ITX. Since Gigabyte did such a good job at satisfying me with other things as well, I thought asrock would do the same. There are other things that I enjoyed on that gigabyte board but I don't seem to have on this asrock board. Also while Gigabyte did provide a fix it's also an alpha version of the bios, probably due to amount of "testing they have done". So my rudeness is a combination of all things, not just the lack of stability updates. Oh and I'm having a huge feeling of buyers remorse right now. sorry Edited by Kyuunex - 13 Sep 2017 at 10:21pm |

I get that you are stressed out, it's hard not to be when things are not working out
![]() Some questions for you: 1. What, if any, issues are you having with your system? 2. What is missing from your board that you had on the GB board? Bare in mind that ITX boards make compromises for the sake of form factor. While the need to compromise on an H110 based board isn't all that high (limited features to begin with) some things may still have needed to be removed. ASRock is working on a lot of things right now (all manufacturers are tbh) but this is not something they have forgotten about, it will be addressed, especially if it is already patched on other board models. Feel free to PM me and I will see what I can do to help you out.

1. Right now, nothing to note. Hopefully it stays this way. 2. You know when you plug in anything into any of the 3.5 mm jack? and it asks you " Which device did you plug in?". well this board didn't have it. GB did. I tried many different Realtek drivers. Can't get this to work.

Ah, that is a driver related feature. Sometimes board manufacturers "tweak" the drivers for their products, usually branded with their name/logo. You could try installing the drivers from Gigabyte on your board, so long as the sound chip is the same it might work. I am somewhat curious myself. I don't like/want/need those features but if you want them, give it a shot
![]() As for the hyperthreading issue, the fact that it took so long to even get noticed leads me to believe it requires a somewhat specific workload to trigger it, not something the every day user would likely encounter. Bare in mind a "major" issue just means that data could be corrupted/lost, with server/enterprise builds that is a HUGE no go.

I tried installing gigabyte audio drivers already. still ended up with the same unskinned realtek audio panel without that feature. I even tried modded drivers. didn't gave that feature. I mean, i know this can be done theoretically. I also have an old p4 board and it should run soundmax drivers by default but i tried realtek on that one and the different jack was outputting sound. so... I don't mind waiting for the bios fix for that ht issue a bit, I guess, I just want it to happen. that's all, I guess. Edited by Kyuunex - 14 Sep 2017 at 3:43am |
