Connecting EVO 960 500 GB to Ultra M2 Socket runs only at PCIE 3 X 2 instead of 3 X 4
Update BIOS to 3.20, Updated Samsung drivers, installed Samsung magician 5.1, removed and re-installed m2 device no help.
Additional info:
M2 drive used as Win10 OS drive
GPU connected to PCIE 2
AMD all in one installed, updated to 17.3
In BIOS M2 device identified under M2_1 (PCIE)
X370 Killer SLI/ac

Dear myformula,

Greetings, this is ASRock TSD.

Based on Specification, Ultra M.2 Socket supports Gen3 x4 (32 Gb/s) (with Ryzen Series CPU) or Gen3 x2 (16 Gb/s) (with A-Series APU)

So please check which CPU installed on the system.

However, there are some suggestions for you to verify:

1. Please refer to the user manual to clear CMOS.(Page 28)

2. Please make sure all drivers are installed on the system.

3. Please re-install CPU.

4. Please flash BIOS back to P3.00 to check if it related to BIOS version.

5. If possible, please install another PCIe NVME device to check. Or install your device to another system to verify.

Thanks!

All the best,
ASRock TSD

I have an X370 Killer SLI board with UEFI version 3.20, with a Ryzen 1700X, and Samsung 960 EVO. The 960 EVO works fine and is seen in the Magician software as running at PCIe 3.0 x4.

As said above, in you are using a AM4 APU processor, the M2_1 slot will only run at PCIe 3.0 x2. That is a limitation of the APU processors.
