Hello,

i've updated my Bios on my Taichi X399 from 1.70 to 1.80.
Everything works fine, like with the other bios updates before.

On the ASRock site the bios 1.80 has the description:  Update to AGESA 1.0.0.4

But after the update tools like AIDA or HWinfo showing me:
AMD AGESA Version: ThreadRipperPI-SP3r2-1.0.0.3.

So i'm a little bit confused about that, because i thought with 1.80 AGESA would be updated to 1.0.0.4?

Marcus

Not good, OceanBlue72.  What method of flashing did you use?  You should ONLY use Instant Flash from the BIOS - NEVER Windows.  After flashing did you boot back into BIOS and do F9 (Load UEFI Defaults) and F10 (Save Changes and Exit).  Open a Hex Editor and look at address 0xE43E30.  I see SummitPI-SP3r2-1.0.0.4.  What you are seeing is exactly what I see in AIDA64 with 1.70 installed.  Please let us hear.  Thanks and enjoy, John.

I always use instant flash within the bios plus after flashing i've load uefi default, save and exit and then making my settings.
The tools showing me the right bios version, but the older AGESA version.
By searching with a hex editor - did you mean the bios file?

Yes, OceanBlue72.  Sorry, I did a poor job of communicating.  Please check the hash codes of your extracted 1.80 BIOS update:  Here are mine for FGP board.  I will DL the Taichi and post then in an Edit shortly:
CRC32: D3CA27AB
MD5: B822F51ED203C0CDF605B48FBF275301
SHA-1: 5D5003957DAB300F3D0AFFE6778C3BDC7D104F05

Thanks and enjoy, John.

EDIT: I posted the wrong hash codes - good now.

EDIT again:  The Taichi file I DLed has the wrong AGESA version number in it or is the wrong file.  I would strongly advise you to flash back to 1.70 ASAP!  No telling what you have!  Please open a ASRock ticket and report this.

OceanBlue72, I just DLed the copy on US site and it is the same.  Do you have a response from Support yet?  You should know before us.  Almost all of us are users not ASRock employees and have no special information.  You can DL the latest on your site and see if it has changed.  I hope they will change the BIOS version number - very bad practice not to have a new version.  Enjoy, John.

I was sent beta v1.71 by ASRock for the Taichi X399, which also says AGESA 1.0.0.3. I had someone send me v1.71 for their board (X399 FPG) and it says 1.0.0.4. The reason I'm looking forward to this update so much is that I've seen 3 people now report that v1.71 fixed their 128GB memory issue with the X399 FPG, which is the same issue that I am having. However, updating to the latest BIOS for my board (v1.80), as well as the beta BIOS that they sent me (v1.71), neither have fixed the issue and I'm still stuck with a board that won't POST with 128GB memory.

That leads me to believe that they screwed up somewhere when implementing AGESA 1.0.0.4 in the X399 Taichi, and it's not simply a matter of them simply forgetting to update some version identifier string. Of course, I've emailed ASRock regarding this issue, but I have yet to receive a response. Unfortunately, in my experience thus far, it seems that nobody responds to their support emails. It's been an incredibly frustrating experience dealing with these issues.
