Hi,

I'm having issues with my Asrock AB350 Pro4.

Setup:
Asrock AB350 Pro4 - bios v.3.20
Samsung ECC 2400MHz UDIMM 1x16GB - M391A2K43BB1-CRC
AMD Ryzen 1600X

  • I have not found anything about ECC in the BIOS. According to Asrock support it should be automatically enabled.
  • The UDIMMs are not in the QVL but they are working fine (except for ECC...)
  • dmidecode output states that it can find multibit ECC memory in the socket.
  • edac states at boot that ECC is disabled. I've tried to force-enabling it but it fails.
  • I'm awfully confused when I read on reddit that ECC works in some bios versions on AB350 and X370. Why isn't there a statement from Asrock?
  • I've also read that it might be needed to have 2x UDIMM for ECC to work. No statement from Asrock on this either.
Do you guys have any recommendation on how to proceed? Should I return the mobo or should I buy two UDIMMs from the QVL? Or should I try an older bios version?

Thanks!

edac-util recognizes your ECC-RAM onlly with a newer kernel has ryzen support.
I'm running Ubuntu 17.10 and "dmesg | grep -i edac" reports supported ECC with my AB350 Pro4.
Under Windows "wmic memphysical get memoryerrorcorrection" reports "6", i.e. Windows recognizes the ECC-modules.

Kalekulan, Please open a ticket with ASRock Technical Support.  Few here are using ECC memory and I, for one, am not aware of the UEFI version issue.  Please do keep us informed.  Thanks and enjoy, John.

Did this issue ever get resolved?

I am interested in getting this motherboard and need ECC memory to work on it.
